As one of my hero's once said "Bring it on." She will lose on this one, she is doing it because she knows it will fail and she is just kissing up to her wacko base.

Of course this is nothing more than political Onanism, but it does fool the DailyKos and DU crowd, that's for sure.

Yes, again the "MODERATE" (LMFAO) Marxist witch tries to appeal to her RADICAL lefits true base. Sorry Hitlery, you can't have it both ways --- stupid is, as stupid does.

Desperation time! The Liberals managed to buy O'Connor while calling her a "swing vote" but they know with Alito that won't happen and it strips them of their second legislative branch.

In her cramped hyper-politically-calculating mind, she MUST oppose cloture or look weak in comparison to John F'n.

Democrats and Republicans alike said the 55-year-old conservative jurist will get more than the 60 votes need to cut off debate on the Senate floor Monday.

"Everyone knows there are not enough votes to support a filibuster," Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada said Friday. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., said the same thing on Thursday. "A bipartisan majority will vote to confirm Judge Alito as Justice Alito," Frist said.

Exactly. These leftist maggots are really floundering. They have no purpose, no agenda, no nothing -- other than who can out-lie the other one. Hitlery is trying to have it both ways -- ain't gonna work. She is dogmeat already...easy pickins.

Pure show. This is all about fund-raising. The Democrats today are only doing what their idiot left is demanding, in exchange for hundreds of thousands of names and addresses. They distributed petitions on the Internet yesterday, so that the rabid left could demand this filibuster. Now the Dems have their names, and can solicit donations based on their ATTEMPTED Filibuster.

They are just a bunch of suckers, as the Senators do whatever they can to raise money, due to Howard Dean's failure. The GOP has a 10-to-1 cash advantage right now. The Dems are desperate.

Just heard from a Demo acquaintance that this whole thing has been set up for over a week, it's been a charade, Dingy knew all along, the idea is to quash Bush's SOTU speech by stealing the news cycle, plus it shores up the Dem base, plus, the Dems are convinced that Frist doesn't have the guts to pull the trigger.

The dominoes do seem to be falling with regularity, but I'm not convinced...I think he's caught up in wishful thinking.

Well, she may not look weak but she sure does look crazy. And she's equally crazy if she thinks she'll win back the looney left by this futile move; they must be smarter than that. No? Perhaps you're right.

"She will lose on this one, she is doing it because she knows it will fail and she is just kissing up to her wacko base."

You are absolutely correct. My (Gag!) Senator, Russ Feingold (D, WI) uses the exact same strategy. Of course, you summed it up nicely, but I feel the need to ramble a bit:

They do it to appeal to their lunatic fringe base. Find a cause that you know is going to fail. Jump onboard and ride it down. Look like a hero to your looney base, and score lots of brownie points because you were trying sooooooooo haaaaard to "do the right thing." (Barf!!)

These people must feel like pretzels at the end of a day. How any of them can keep track of their falsehoods, obstructionism and positions on any issue is totally beyond me.

Have you seen the movie "Memento?" I swear, if we striped down any Dem Senator or member of the House, they'd be covered in tatoos, reminding themselves of what they stand for, LOL!

LOL; I sent Senator Feinstine an email this afternoon making just this point; now that she has changed her mind I asked her why, and then answered my own question. That is had to do with money from the NAGS and other pro-abort groups...and her party dares to call Republicans the party of corruption? These people do what the money masters tell them to do; yep, DiFi and the rest of the fillibusterers live on Hillary's planation, for sure.

Yeah, they got their marching orders. They don't have any choice. They don't have enough money to contend with Republicans in November, and had they pissed off their crazy base, they would have no way to make enough dough to compete.

The calculation:

1. Support Filibuster
a. If it doesn't work, it'll be forgotten and the failure won't be blamed on her.
b. If it does work, and the nuke option fails, she's a hero.
c. If it does work, and the nuke option comes through, if she wins the presidency it allows her to really go wild on her own appointments.

It's a tie-win-win for her.
