Former U.N. Weapons Inspector Speaks About Iraq
Former U.N. Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter is speaking out about the war in Iraq. His speech in Schenectady comes in the midst of President Bush's media blitz, defending the war.
Former U.N. Weapons Inspector in Iraq Scott Ritter says politicians on both sides of the aisle just haven't been straight with the American people since the start of the war.
Ritter said, “Whatever we're trying to build will collapse unless we first deal with the foundation.”
Ritter shared his insight with a fairly full house at the First United Methodist Church in Schenectady. He was last on the ground in Iraq in 2002 and says while many are focusing on how to get out, he stresses it's just as important to keep analyzing how we got in.
Ritter said, “The problem with his decision is it was based on not only falsehoods, but bad information.”
In the past week President Bush has been highly visible, defending the situation in Iraq and the future in the Mid-East.
President George W. Bush said on Thursday, “The question is whether or not we can win victory in Iraq...our commanders will have troops to do that.”
Ritter hopes that will happen, but says the issue of faulty intelligence still needs to be addressed. Because that mistake, as he calls it, has led to a domino effect in the region.
Ritter said, “I think one of the unforeseen consequences of the invasion of Iraq and the President's embarking on transformation in the Middle East -- using democracy as a theme -- is that it's backfiring.”
Pointing to the recent election of a hard-line president in Iran and the victory by Hamas -- a group labeled a terror organization -- in elections in the Palestinian territories.
Ritter said, “I think what we're seeing is that democracy in the middle east is an iffy thing -- sometimes you may get a result that you may not have wanted.”
Guess he is low on funds, passing the collection plate.
Bitter is what bitter does.
We shouldn't forget that Ritter's a pedophile, too. Maybe that's his "sympathetic bond" to Saddam.
"Democracy is an iffy thing.." Yeah, letting people decide things for themselves is "iffy"...is'nt that what scares the crap out of the left?! "How can we control what you decide?" This is what they ask themselves everyday. Lies, deception and games. Gotta love it!
Anyone ask him if he has give up child molestation yet?
RITTER QUOTES IN AUGUST 1998:
"We had some very specific information, which led us to believe we could go to locations where we would find aspects of this hidden weaponry, of these hidden components, and also uncover how Iraq actually went about hiding these weapons from the commission.
We had very specific information, and we believe that if we'd been allowed to accomplish this inspection, we could have achieved meaningful disarmament results."
On cliams by Saddam he was a spy for Israel and the US:
"they have painted me as a troublemaker in an effort to distract the world's attention away from its failure-Iraq's failure to abide by its disarmament obligations."
On Iraq hiding it weapons from inspectors:
"Iraq today is challenging the special commission to come up with a weapon and say where is the weapon in Iraq, and yet part of their efforts to conceal their capabilities, I believe, have been to disassemble weapons into various components and to hide these components throughout Iraq.
On Saddams WMD:
Iraq can in a very short period of time measure the months, reconstitute chemical biological weapons, long-range ballistic missiles to deliver these weapons, and even certain aspects of their nuclear weaponization program.
"If the world wants to rid Iraq of weapons of mass destruction"....
On UN resolutions and force against Iraq:
"..you couldn't have had the February MOU without the real and credible threat of military force. That's an obvious statement. You can't expect to enforce the law unless you have the means to carry out the enforcement."

Ritter is now a columnist for Al-Jazeera and while international observers said the election in Iraq was valid, Ritter claimed there was a secret plot to fix the vote.
Interesting read about Ritter's bizarre turnaround on Iraqi WMD. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Exactly. Anytime I see press coverage of Ritter speaking, it seems as if it is always in some tiny hall within an hour or two drive from his home in upstate NY. Speaking to "a more select audience" these days, if I may quote from "This Is Spinal Tap."
The OLD Media sure has been quiet about that.......
as to Ritter, even Slate questioned his 180 degree turn on Iraq.
Ritter is one strange story and man, military intelligence to this is one wild career swing.
That's really all you need to know about this man.

Maybe Saddam had pictures and used them to turn Ritter into a sympathizer.
This guy's fifteen minutes were up a long time ago.
I assume he is still on the payroll of the wealthy pro-Saddam Iraqi-American who paid him to shill for Saddam in the runnup to the 2003 invasion of Iraq. One must wonder why it is that even Fox News does not demand Ritter address this issue? He seems to have had no other means of income since he was no longer a UN inspector.
Probably..
He's spending his time under the radar speeking in "peacenik churches"
Have we found the video tapes Sadaam took ot Ritter doing little girls in Iraq yet?
He's obviously being blackmailed.
