Senator John Ensign was transported to the hospital this morning following a car accident.

The accident happened before 8 a.m. near Paradise and Sands. Police say the driver of a Jeep swerved into Ensign's lane hitting his vehicle head on. Ensign's vehicle was also rear ended by another car.

Just to be safe, I'd like to see the NSA file on the driver of that Jeep ; )

Seriously though, prayers for a quick recovery of everyone involved.

Soundes like some Senator's son took things into his own hands ti insure the Rats won the day.

It happened in wisconsin with punctured tires. Why not in DC with planned auto accidents?

Alito will be confirmed. It might be messy, but it will get done. After reading some of your posts and commments, I have to wonder if you are some sort of DU "plant".

It happened in Las Vegas, for one thing.

For another, he's going to be released from the hospital later today. He has some cuts and bruises.

He could make it to DC if he was really needed, which he won't be.

I have not heard that lieberman was pro fillibuster only that he was going to vote no on Alito. I'd be very surprised if he would vote for a filibuster. Of course he is a dem so anything is possible.

LIberman will not vote for the fillibuster. He is actually the only Dem playing it smart here politically. Despite what the crazies at DU and Kos have to say they wont be able to punish him at the polls. Plus he looks principled to Repubs who will vote for him so a mad extreme liberal doesnt take the seat. Ditto for Landrieu who realizes she will have enough problms getting reelected without this vote coming back into her face. Alito is in. The big fight is the next one. What amazes me is Pryor from arkansas who is running against him next time

God forbid, but if the cloture vote turns out 59-40, then they just have another cloture vote as soon as Ensign is brought to the chamber. Big whoop.

Exactly. Cloture fails today? Fine. Stick a bottle of Excedrin in his hand and put him on the redeye.

If they defeat the first cloture vote all the pressure will be off the red state dems.

The next cloture vote durbin will be able to turn around more votes.

How in the world for the most important vote in this congress do you wait until the last second to leave.

Ensign left at 11 a.m dc time from across the country. Any mishap and he won't make the vote. He could miss countless other votes but I just wish for a vote like this they would not leave anything to chance.

Latest count: 62 votes (he would need 60 to close debate).

Lieberman is an extreme liberal on social issues.

It is a mistake to confuse lieberman's pro war positions on domestic issues.

Lieberman is ted kennedy on domestic issues.
