Believe me, I can relate. I have relatives who think you've become a drunk if you have a glass of Gewurztraminer with your meal.
Speaking of beer, it's been too long since I've had any. Hmm... maybe a Kirin Ichiban?
I always preferred Asahi though the Kirin is Number One.
Hmmm... Asahi now claims to be #1 in Japan - and #4 in the world!
First and second in the world are (shudder) Bud and Bud Lite.
I've not tried Asahi, but you've convinced me - I will!
From the article:
"When his blood was tested at the hospital, after the shooting, his blood-alcohol level was twice the legal driving limit of 0.08, a medical source said."
He wasn't falling down drunk. That's 0.16, that's hardly impared. His beating is what caused his disorientation, not the alcohol.
" In case anyone is unfamiliar with beating and repeated head stomping, it will render the victim unable to see, hear, maintain balance, or respond to much at all. Unless he actually pointed the gun at the other cops, they should never have shot him. Since his beating was so severe, he might have done that.
So, this guy was in the lot and did nothing? Someone called the cops. Too bad no one's allowed effective self defense in NY. An employee could have stopped the attack.
See #44, he was not an out of control drunk.
Been around that area and times myself.
Moved now up North.
I would guess than you don't know city cops
Ichiban is Number One. So is Numero Uno. Bud Lite is Club Soda with softer bubbles unless you also purchase a (flavor Packet to put in it.
By the time he was tested he was still showing .16, that is very drunk. This guy had been on an all night bender, as a holder of a CCL I would not be carrying under those conditions. He returned to the restaurant twice still looking for trouble while packing, that alone should end his gun carrying days. When he was gunned down by uniformed police, it looked like he was in the process of blowing the head off an employee of the restaurant. Please read the article.
The off-duty officer, Eric Hernandez was 24. At that age you can work 8 hours, party 8 hours and go right back to work for another 8 hours. I did it many times.
If his beating caused the disorientation, why did he leave and then return three times BEFORE the beating?
"So, this guy was in the lot and did nothing? Someone called the cops."
Do you really expect some bystander to go hand-to-hand five on one?
Too bad no one's allowed effective self defense in NY. An employee could have stopped the attack.
Too true.
Some can. Some cannot. And please don't tell me that anyone who does that is sharp during the second eight hour shift. I know. I'm in the military and I've done that sort of stuff too.
No, he was off duty, DRUNK, and armed.
How do you know the "thugs" started anything?
Drunken "cop", no chance he said or did anything to deserve getting punched out?
From what I see this may be a tie, stupid cop verse stupid thugs.
I do feel some sympathy for the shooter, I am sure he will gat a lot of grief for shooting the drunk "cop".
I don't know the article number.

No it's not. 0.08/0.1 is not impaired. 0.16 is not very drunk. Still showing? the man was rushed to the hospital. The reading is the same as the time of the incident.
"as a holder of a CCL I would not be carrying under those conditions."
The rules probably forbid it.
"He returned to the restaurant twice still looking for trouble"
He went to get some sliders, 'cause he was hungry. He did not go there looking for trouble.
"When he was gunned down by uniformed police, it looked like he was in the process of blowing the head off an employee of the restaurant."
He showed restraint before the beating. He was driven to the bars and did not drive. The man isn't a drunk, nor was he confrontaitonal. Afterwards, after he was beaten within a few inches of life, he was disoriented. Apparently you have never been beaten within a few inches of your life, so you can't relate. You're not even trying to.
"Please read the article."
Did you miss the part where the thug wacked his chest and then sucker punched him? Did you miss the part where the rest of the criminal pack then jumped him? Did you miss the part where they stomped on his head repeatedly? Ever see a prize fight where the loser looks like he wouldn't know his own name?
This happened 4 blocks from my office Saturday morning. The officer was beaten senseless and was most likely disoriented after the beating. The previous nite several blocks down on Webster there was another shootout and responding police were shot at. NYPD SOP is drop your weapon when off duty/undercover, do as police order and answer questions later. Sadly, for whatever reason he did not do this and many lives are destroyed. Most especially the officer that shot his fellow policeman.
The THUGS that hang out in McD's, WHite Castle etc even during the lunch hours are scary. I won't even go to a corner store around there because of the elements. Mind you, I have a Police station 1 block south, a fire station next to the Police station and a half block north is the NYPD Rescue 3. These animals are not afraid of the police.
The police know this and still go to work every day and do the best they can. Hernandez has and will continue to pay a steep price for the drinks he had that night. His career is over. Please pray for the good cops that go out everyday, that they will make it home for dinner.
For gosh sakes read the article.
That I will as I know quite a few.
I ran my numbers though intox. They're wrong. Their calculator requires too many drinks to get the right number. Regardless, 0.16 is not that bad.
" If his beating caused the disorientation, why did he leave and then return three times BEFORE the beating?"
I don't know. Nor, do I care to speculate on what the cop sensed in that place.
" Do you really expect some bystander to go hand-to-hand five on one?"
I've done it myself. I just can't stand allowing scum to have there way with innocent victims. That includes when they're armed and I'm not.
It can't be, cops never do things like that. They're perfect.
