It's rude to play music as loud as I have heard it played. Also, these people may regret the hearing damage later. I went to several Priest concerts in the 80's and looking back I don't know how my hearing survived. There's no way I could endure that kind of loudness now.

I went to my first concert in many, many years November 2005. It was McCartney and I figured it would be fairly tame. Two seconds into the show, I wanted to run to the bathroom and stuff toilet paper in my ears. Call me an old fuddy duddy but I've learned not to take for granted any of my senses. Another thing I can't endure as an older person but used to love as a teenager--amusement park rides. It all changes once you get past 30.

Loud noise in public that passes for "music" is a demonstration of social hostility born from a sense of inferiority. "Look at me! I AM somebody". Fortunately for them, I am too smart to brandish my noisemakers.

bah, they should be smarter about it. enforce restrictions on noise polution based on decible level at a certain distance, on stanrdard for day, one for night. violations should be punished with disturbing the peace violations. 3d offense should be meisdemeanor disorderly person, possible jail term.
apply same standards to ANY noise violation, including, but not limited to, cars with loud exhausts, motorcycles with loud exhausts, loud and obnoxious passengers- including screaming children, trailers, animal carriers, squealing tires, vehicle vibration, horns, etc.
i have less problem with loud stereos than i do any of those other sources of noise polution.

"Seized"? That little word has numerous Constitutional implications. The Takings Clause and Search and Seizure Clause come immediately to mind.

Impounding a car for playing loud music is to severe,

"to severe." Two issues: one is that the author is a grammatical idiot. The second is, I think these morons' parents should be spanked.

While I find such noisy cars annoying to the point where I would open fire if I could get away with it, I don't like nanny-state laws.

I comfort myself that the owners of rolling boom-boxes have two problems coming.

1. All that vibration is bad for their vehicle. Bolts and welds will loosen under this constant assault. The muffler will fall off.

2. By the time they are my age, they won't be half-deaf like me. They will be stone-deaf.

If you lived on a main street where every other car passing with their windows down playing music so loud that the window vibrate. Well then maybe you would think different about someone trying to atleast get a little relaxation at there home. Where else is a person supposed to relax after a day at work. These people that pass by the house have no respect for anything. They want to listen to there music as loud as they can play it. I think that is fine go out in the country and play the thing till it blows up. At least that way they are the only ones that hear all that stupid noise.
