Take the Iowa to San Diego where it will find a city who actually loves their country and their Navy. And what's this crap about "educating people about the contributions of gay, lesbian, and people of color"? The Navy is about team work, not singling people out for special treatment to make them feel better. This political correctness garbage is unfit for the decks of the Iowa. If you put your memorial in a decent American city, you wouldn't face such a struggle.
And while I'm on my soap box, I've decided to make it my mission to stop San Fran-sicko from having Fleet Week. Why should the Navy waste money on a city full of anti-America sentiment. The only fleet the crackpots of San Fran-Sicko deserve is a Fleet enema.
