Michelle Malkin caught this on Drudge and has comments on it. Thought you made want to read it for yourself. I dont think one could find two more anti-American reporters than this pair of hairy brown eyes but Larry seemed to pull it off.

As a child, Christiane Amanpour would march around and loudly declaim, "I want to be a War Slut when I grow up." The young dear lived her dream.

CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR SHEDS THE MASK
By Michelle Malkin   ·   January 30, 2006 11:30 PM

Download and watch the video
(.wmv file). 9.2MB. Large file, but worth it.

You'll love these snippets from the cable news network that admitted suppressing news of atrocities in Iraq in exchange for access from Saddam Hussein to Baghdad. It's CNN international correspondent Christiane Amanpour shedding whatever thin mask of objectivity she has worn and riding on her high horse about the need for "independent" war reporting--as she delivers a made-for-moonbats diatribe on Larry King Live about the "disaster" and "spiraling security disaster" that the Iraq war has become. Also spiced with self-congratulatory oratory about journalists such as herself who are sacrificing so much to bring the world the "truth."

And yes, that is disgraced propagandist Peter Arnett appearing with Amanpour.

Hat tip: Drudge

Partial transcript:

Clip 1:

AMANPOUR: If we don't do it, who does it? We have had, uh, we have to have an independent eye on these conflicts. The war in Iraq has basically turned out to be a disaster. And journalists have paid for it, uh, paid for the privilege for witnessing and reporting that. And so have many, many other people who have been there. And I think that's terribly, terribly difficult for us. And unfortunately, for some reason which I can't fathom, the kind of awful thing that's going on there now on a daily basis has almost become humdrum. So when something happens to people that we identify, like Bob and like Doug, we wake up again and realize, no, this is not acceptable, what's going on there. And it's a terrible situation.

KING: Well said.

Clip 2:

AMANPOUR: [Trashes reconstruction efforts] ...Most of the Iraqi people are losing hope that the promised reconstruction is going to happen and that the quality of their lives is going to increase. This is a big drama, because hope is the only thing they have in the middle of this spiraling security disaster. And by any indication, whether you take the number of journalists killed or wounded, whether you take the number of American soldiers killed or wounded, whether you take the number of Iraqi soldiers killed or wounded, uh, contractors, people working there, it just gets worse and worse.

Well, we're there to report what's actually going on. And we pay a heavy price for trying to get to the truth and the truth is what our business is all about. And that's why we're out there despite the enormous, enormous personal costs to us, to our families, to our networks.

I am sure milbloggers, among others, will have a lot to say about this.

I switched it on just in time to hear a caller asking them (paraphrasing):

"I am sorry about what happened, but why does a reporter get 100 times the media coverage of his injuries when we have our brave troops being wounded almost every day, and the media does not go off like this?"

Bingo!

When I saw there was breaking news on ABC on Sunday I thought something big had happened. Then to find out Bob Woodruff and his cameraman were injured I was a bit incredulous.

Soldiers get wounded and killed, and its not treated as breaking news. This just continues to show the double standard that the media is bogged down in.

There are none so important as they themselves. MSNBC actually had coverage this morning of the two being transferred to a plane for the flight back to the states. It probably wasn't the point MSNBC wanted to make, but what impressed me was the professionalism of our soldiers caring for these two.

Marshall McLuhan famously said that, "The medium is the message."

It's all about the media, they are the stars of the show and we little people don't get it.

Yes, while channel surfing last night, I saw Mrs. Jamie Rubin proclaim that the Iraq war was "disasterous"...just another unbiased reporter for CNN giving us the news.

To the media, when soldiers are wounded or killed it's not breaking news, it's good news.

Peter Arnett. I remember he was fired from NBC and went to work for a tabloid in Great Britain. He must have a problem restraining himself from cheering every time a US soldier is killed.
