The protest by the World Can't Wait coalition is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., one hour before Bush's State of the Union address. Rally organizers secured a permit for the square that runs through 9 p.m., officials said.

Police plan to close off Post and Powell streets at the square. In addition, the northbound lane of Geary Street and the westbound lane of Stockton Street will be closed.

Something tells me the Wilshire exit at the Fed Bldg in Westwood will probably also see action from the local Reds & anarchists - {note to self - take coast route home tonight)

I used to live in SF. The last time I went back was to hear a concert at night. Not the best idea (but I won it in a contest, so it was at the right price). Had to go through the Civic Center. Also not the best idea. Good thing my black-belt son was with me. His stance was enough to keep the nutties at bay.

Personally, I think SF should have lots and lots of protests. What do they need a working economy for anyway? All they have to do is sell their houses to pay for the next few years' indolence and self-indulgence.

Are they protesting Bush giving the SOTU?
Or protesting that he can give the SOTU.?
Or protesting that they don't want him to give the SOTU?

Man these people are unfocused!

Typical of liberals. "So what if we inconvenience a lot of people trying to get home from work? Our agenda is what's important!"

The location is strategic: all the nice expensive stores surround the square. If looting breaks out they won't have far to go. There was a reason these permanent high-schoolers voted to ban all handguns in SF.

Or protesting the Alito confirmation vote? They may not realize it's a done deal. ;^)

Ah yes, the liberal trash of SF will be on display again -- the same old bunch of suspects, losers and sixties rejects. Nothing new -- can't let SF's leftist fringe image slip, you know!

Maybe they'll create so much confusion that we'll have a lemming-like mass suicidal disaster, like they always seem to have at the haj...

In 90, I watched a protest turn into a riot in Downtown SF. Problem was that no one was even sure that the protest was about. It was well before the Gulf War, and the flyers that initiated it were vague.

That didn't stop them from trashing the Financial District however.

If we're lucky, Little Green Footballs "zombie" will take photos & videos of these moonbats, and if so, I will try to remember to post a link.

Since they'll all be unarmed. This would be a good opportunity to go down the line with a pillowcase and relieve them of their Rolex's.

It's been said that the authorities in San Francisco don't mind these regularly scheduled little protests cuz the alternative is, well, riots and property damage...let the volcano belch out a few clouds of smoke rather than having a full scale eruption.
