Q.-(Pres.Bush)--"A hopeful society gives special attention to children who lack direction and love..."
"...,we are encouraging caring adults to get involved in the life of a child..."

There are many of good american fathers, who pay child support and numberous other charges, but who don't have any visitation to there childrens.
The family courts and laws are anti-fathers in most states, and in the american inner-cities fathers are missing, and prevented by this anti-male system(s).

The anti-fathers/anti-God/anti-military forces will state that "it's a women rights", and use deceptions and lies,etc...

Bring back the GOOD FATHERS, and help them be part of there childrens lives.

It is a fact that the data presented does not include defense costs. If you are so convinced that spending has been cut, find the data from a reliable source and present it. Repeating Bush's lie doesn't make it true.

"Supporting the party over principle is a recipe for disaster."

Couldn't have said it better... :)

The charts are true. Notice the president said "non-security discretionary spending", instead of non-defense discretionary spending. It is because he can fit things like health care spending and farm subsidies under "security".

The President has grown the size of government like no other President since LBJ.

Tonight I ask you to pass legislation to prohibit the most egregious abuses of medical research: human cloning in all its forms, creating or implanting embryos for experiments, creating human-animal hybrids, and buying, selling, or patenting human embryos.

So much for my army of shark-people.

Homeland Security spending to improve police communications or prepare response to terrorist attacks etc. is included in your "non defense" discretionary spending number. It is an attempt by the pseudo Conservatives to knowing lie about Federal Spending since they know their fringe political views have NO chance of gaining any traction if they actually address the facts in an intellectually honest fashion. Just another attempt by fringe wackos to lie using statistics.

It would be interesting to see how he cooked the books to make this look like he's done something positive...

I thought he said "non-security" discretionary. "Security" can be construed broader than "defense". He probably included such things as farm subsidies under security spending.

Too bad Bush thinks our economy can not function without the illegals.

Two things really stuck out to me last night.

1. The Dems looked like @sses while being unable to stand for protecting our country, but more than able at the ruin of SS

2. Hildabeast looked like an @ss without a sense of humor during the Presidents joke about WJC.

To paraphrase Forrest Gump, @sses are as @sses do.

Every year of my presidency, we've reduced the growth of non-security discretionary spending, and last year you passed bills that cut this spending.

So, these charts are not true?

I listened with pride as an American in a free land. Then just as suddenly, the President announced initiative after initiative that would cost more of our cha-ching.

And the kicker for me was MORE MONEY TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS for education. U-Boat Teddy's education budget wasn't enough money. Seems our children are falling behind--how can that be? DAMN! Better send more money.

BTW, my SIL and # of friends taught in Texas, home of Bush's education initiative. This so-called "no child left behind" act should be renamed "giving kids answers for the state exams the entire year, instead of actually teaching" act. Teachers in the districts in which family and friends taught are told to focus on state scores rather than actually teaching. That will propel the US to the top of the world economy for sure. Look out Singapore!

Mr. President, if I may, if we are to improve our math and science skills we have to overhaul public schools, get down and dirty with the NEA Nazis, and clean out the useless and counter-productive Dept of Ed..

We must bring back the tried and true classical approach to education. The type of education found at the private schools the well-heeled politicians and some NEA leaders send their children to attend.

I didn't watch it because I didn't want to be fed anymore BS. Both parties are a joke and to anyone who thinks either one is doing things in the people's best interest needs to remove their head from their a##. Bush in NOT a true conservative. Social conservative, yes he is. Economic conservative, not even close. All the parties care about is getting their people elected so they can get more power and give themselves a raise.

I wish I could be more positive but I am a realist. Until the American people, who for the most part are stupid and lazy, has the guts to stir things up. I do not see that happening. Let the flaming begin.

Well, hopefully our Democrat governor here in the Commonwealth of Virginia will not do too much damage. Warner was not too liberal. At least they are nothing like those northeastern idiots nor the western ones.
