"Do you agree with the decision by Capitol Police to remove activist Cindy Sheehan from the gallery at the president's State of the Union speech because she was wearing a T-shirt with an antiwar slogan?" -------------------------------------------- Actually was alerted to this on Daily Chaos, where someone said "Freep this poll!" What's the old cliche? "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"? ;-)

From Drudge: FLASHBACK: Man Wearing Anti-Clinton T-Shirt Removed from Senate Gallery at Impeachment Trial Wed Feb 01 2006 08:47:08 ET Cindy Sheehan, the anti-war activist who was removed from the House gallery last night before the State of the Union address for wearing a t-shirt with a political message, is not the first person to be tossed from a Congressional gallery at a high-profile event for wearing a political t-shirt. In the early days of the Senate's impeachment trial of President Bill Clinton in January 1999, a Pennsylvania man named Dave Delp was removed by the Capitol police from the Senate gallery for wearing a t-shirt that said, "Clinton doesn't inhale, he sucks." The Pennsylvania school teacher was yanked out of a VIP Senate gallery and briefly detained during the impeachment trial for wearing a T-shirt with graphic language dissing President Clinton. Delp, 42, of Carlisle, Pa., and a friend had just settled into their seats when four Capitol security guards approached them. Delp said at the time that he was ordered to button his coat and follow the guards. Outside the chamber, he was told "several people felt threatened by your shirt." Even after establishing that Delp was a guest of Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.), the guards wouldn't let him back in and escorted him to a basement security area, where they questioned and photographed him. After being given one of the photos as a souvenir, Delp said he was banned from the Capitol for the rest of the day. "They were polite and professional," Delp added, "but they really did scare me. I think I should have been given the chance to cover up."

Sheharm wasn't the first.

I notice that she was fading, the media wasn't covering her much, and she couldn't draw a crowd at her book signing or in Europe.

Chavez helped her regain publicity. This poor, homely creature thrives that publicity so she is happy. Chavez is a nut, so he is happy. I wonder about the Democrats. I wonder how thrilled they are with this nut being their face.

I suspect many of them want her to go away.

Lots of nutjob traffic on MSNBC...hard to get a non biased, representative, poll on that site.

Still if we can pull a 2% margin on the loonies on site, that says something.

because she was wearing a T-shirt with an antiwar slogan
According to the news I was watching she was "detained" because she was carrying a protest flag of some kind that she planned on unfurling. Protest is illegal inside the chambers. And yes I agree with it.

Is "Should have been shot on sight" an option in the poll?

Woolsey has to be as looney as Sheehan to give her an invitation.

Hmmm. there are TWICE as many respondents as there were to this MS-NBC poll (104712):

Are You a Bush Booster -- or Basher? (Updated: 5:27 p.m. ET Feb. 12, 2004)

Editor's Note: This week, the online version of the Newsweek poll received an unusually high rate of response, with the clear majority of participants casting uniform votes. For these reasons, we believe the poll is being intentionally manipulated. In addition, we received an e-mail alert suggesting that the campaign is being coordinated by at least one special-interest group.
NOTE: That is the link as cited on the MS-NBC page (and you can still see it). It points to an FR thread. Boo hoo. Yet they "exposed" the FReep to MAINTAIN a positive showing even though DUmmies DUpe and DUmp on polls all the time.

Their silence this time around is deafening.

It's still showing 51% supporting removing Sheehan vs. 49% opposed, after I voted.

I heard earlier this morning that the Senate Rules forbid signs, including signage on tee-shirst, things worn, unfurled, etc. and that Sheehan was aware of the Senate Rules and disregarded them.

How many hundreds of thousands have attended functions and previous SofU Addresses in the past in the Senate and never violated these rules...and Sheehan didn't EXPECT to be removed for violating them? This is just vaudeville on her part AND her peers, whoever they may be.

I'm surprised that she was even provided access (Senate ticket for that purpose). She certainly is TRYING to get arrested and booted and shown the door. I'm glad We The People could oblige her this time.

From the link to Congressman Woolsley's site:

"Cindy Sheehan, who gave her own flesh and blood for this disastrous war,..."

Casey Sheehan VOL-un-Teered to go & fight, even when his superior told him He didn't have to jump in with the QRF going to help the pinned-down Cavalry unit.

But the Youn Mechanic's response???

"Where My Chief goes, I go."

Cindy, Your sone is right up in the Ranks of True American Heros like Nathan Hale, Davy Crockett and Seargent Paul Smith who passed away for their country's survival...

...and You make him out to be like a young child-victim of rape & murder!

Agreed. Surely Woolsey knew what would happen if Sheehan was allowed in the gallery. Did she honestly think Cindy would just sit there and be polite?

Could you notify MS-NBS that you would like to see them expose the same tactic of "Daily Chaos" that they exposed of FR? See elsewhere in this thread to see their earlier "issue" with FReeping.

Or at least post their response.

Thanks
