They Killed Kenny…And Revolutionized Comedy (South Park)
GQ Magazine ^ | February 2006 | Mickey Rapkin

Posted on 02/01/2006 5:01:55 PM PST by wallace144

Now that they’ve taken down everyone from the Scientologists to Paris Hilton, have South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker run out of targets? (Hey, Rob Reiner: Watch your back!) Interview by Mickey Rapkin

You did an episode about Paris Hilton, in which she opens up a retail store called Stupid Spoiled Whore. Why pick on Paris?

Trey Parker: Okay, for me, she’s a whore. Whatever. She’s a dumb, ugly whore. But then I walked into a Guess? store, and she was all over the place. I’m like, Wait a minute, they’re treating her like a glamorous model now? Does anyone notice how dangerous this could be to little girls?

On-screen she eventually competes with Mr. Slave in a “whore-off.” How do you come up with an idea like that?

TP: I think she came up with that idea, actually. We just made a cartoon out of it.

How does the show manage to be so topical? Do you really write and produce every episode in six days?

TP: Yes. The hours are absolutely brutal, and they have been for nine years now. We show up on Thursday morning at nine o’clock, and usually we don’t have even an idea for what the show is gonna be about. And we go into the writers room and we’re in there freaking out, and every week I’m like, Why do we do this? Why do we do this? There are a lot of ways we come at show ideas. But we’ll look at things happening in the news. Maybe we say, Let’s do a Paris Hilton episode. Let’s rip on her for being such a whore. And let’s rip on America for embracing her for being such a whore. Now we think, What could be one funny scene? An example is, We should have the Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset, and do a little commercial. Immediately, I have to go out of the room and go write just that scene because we’ve gotta get animators going on something. Then I’ll run back to the writers room and go, Okay, now what could come after that scene? Why does that scene exist? We really get to sculpt the show.

You mean they were just paying their "dues" with BASEketball?

There were some funny moments, like The Horse Whisperer, and Reggie Jackson wanting that last
home run ball back. and, well, that's about all I can remember.

Did you ever see Orgazmo? It's their stuff - pre-Southpark!
It's about the funniest movie... watch it while drinking - with friends who are equally insane.

From the movie...
Joe Young was a simple young man trying to spread the word of the Book of Mormon when he picked the wrong house to preach at! The owner, a porn director named Maxxx Orbison, tells his henchmen to kill the guy at the door who interrupted their scene, but Joe fights off the guards with great skill, which impresses Maxxx so much that he offers Joe the lead role in the movie he's making at the moment: Orgazmo, which is about a sex superhero who fights crime with his Orgazmorator and ChodaBoy, his sidekick. Joe, against his beliefs, takes the job so that he can pay for the wedding he plans for he and his fiancee, who he doesn't tell about his risque new acting job. However, when the movie becomes an amazing hit just about everywhere and he finds out that Ben (ChodaBoy) has created a real Orgazmorator, which emits a light beam that causes the most intense orgasm in whoever it hits.

Yeah, I've seen it, a classic. They have one earlier movie out that I haven't seen but I can't recall the title.

Orgasmo is a hoot! And it features a bunch of real life porn starlets! (as well as "the Hedgehog of Love," Ron Jeremy) The only problem is that they don't get nekkid. The only people who do, you really don't want to see nekkid in the first place. And a lot of guys' a$$e$.

That would be "Cannibal, the Musical!"
