it would probably be an overreaction to firebomb these men's houses

Probably? Uh... yeah. Probably, so.

Did the actor use his role to convey or portray something homosexual in the film?

If not, then why in the world would they care?

Most kids would never know the actor was gay.... if it wasn't for the Southern Baptists.

The movie is called "End of the Spear"? Hmmmm....interesting bit of irony here.

This film tells a great story, one that needed to be told outside of the church walls. It was never likely to be a big success at the box office, but I am so sad that it hasn't done better, partly because of the response of Christians to Chad Allen.

If you have the opportunity to see it before it leaves the theaters, I highly recommend it. (I review it on my blog -- shameless plug)

Bingo, although I wouldn't put it on the Southern Baptists as a group.

A lot of the big email alerts and calls for boycotts are really just publicity campaigns by these organizations, IMO. They use them to generate money by saying, "SEE WHAT WE FOUND! ISN'T IT JUST HORRIBLE? SEND MONEY SO WE CAN DO MORE OF THIS."

It doesn't matter. It's just something to send to the contributors on your list.

I caught that too! Of course gay actors will apply for roles on a film with a name like that.

My Southern-Baptist mother-in-law and father-in-law, both missionaries, in fact my father-in-law is a retired pastor, did not pose any objection to this film. And they enjoyed seeing it. All Southern-Baptists need not be painted with the same brush. Of those in my family who have seen it, they were already familiar with the story and thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

Remember how close Lot was to the fire and brimstone of Sodom and Gomorrah? His wife had the sin of those cities so much a part of her life that she could not run away and not look back. Lot lost his sons in law to be-and his daughters escaped because the angels picked them up by the collar and dragged them out of there before they firebombed the place. Even though they escaped the destruction, they still had the sin of those who were destroyed inside of them--they lost it with their father. Thus, the idea that you can casually live side by side with homosexuality and that it has no effect is really wrong. The problem with homosexuality is not that is the worst sin, it is this sin's ability to twist the very creation of God into something that denies the creator and your purpose altogether.

I think this is the only posting of this New York Times article.
It's interesting to see how The Old Gray Lady summarizes
the controversy amongst a demographic group they haven't a clue about.

Homosexuality is not in itself a sin. The homosexual behavior is the sin.

Please tell me how you can be a "homosexual" in your mind and not be a sinner? The idea that behavior is the sin is not correct. Jesus said thoughts were just as bad.

Really, you mean the guy is secretly a gay??? I think you might need to check out this guy's gayness before you make unsubstantiated accusations.
