Turned on the radio, happened to catch the last segment of the John Batchelor show. He was interviewing Jeb Babbin....who many of us know and respect, and read his columns. I was absolutely stunned by what Babbin just said...hadn't seen/heard it anywheres..and thought it merits reposting for your benefit....
If he actually did it he should fall on his sword literally, and right away, as that would be the best thing for the Congress and the country. However, knowing the arrogance of most Congressmen I doubt that "doing the right thing" is in their vocabulary.
He's not the brightest bulb, so maybe he can be pushed into making a mistake.
You're correct..Babbin said that polugraph results are not admissible, but he reiterated that under the code of secrecy, or whatever it is they sign..FAILURE to submit to a request for a polygraph is immediate grounds for loss of security clearance and access..
I heard the whole segment with Babin as well. I am afraid that the Bush Administration, and their get along/go along attitude, will prevent them from going "nuclear" with this. Any doubt the dems would love to hang Roberts if he was the ranking member and Rockapooper was the chair?
MoodyBlu
A polygraph would be almost as useful as a Magic 8-Ball.
They aren't even admissable in court.
Maybe a voice-stress analyzer would work, but you have to remember that Dems lie for a living.
The Republicans let him slip off the hook back then. It obviously emboldened him to go further. Are the Republicans going to do it again?

"Babbin doesn't think they have the guts to indict a US senator. He said it would cause a battle royal on the Hill, if not a constitutional crisis'
This should be a no brainer for the White House. If you believe the polls, the American public do not trust the Rats with National Security and they are the wrong side on the issue of eavesdropping. Indicting or even opening an investigation of a Rat Senator(s) or his/her staff members would put the Rats is a box they may never, ever be able to get out of. Hello Whig party and Know Nothings of the 19th century!
If the shoes were on the other foot and it was a Rat in the White House and a GOP Senator that leaked something like this. The MSM and the Rat White House would have already strung up the rope.
No more Mr Nice Guy with a party that is becoming an enemy of to the security of this country and thus the Free World.
He might just take it and pass it. People who lie for a living have no conscience.
make him spend some of that money
This is the kind of stuff that eventually has people effictively remove their consent from those empowered to govern.
Monday...I'll do a live thread..
Rich Rocky needs to be down in his West VA working
on the mine problems instead of undercutting Bush on
the war
No one's above the law. Rockefeller should pay the same price anyone else would pay. If he did the crime, he can do the time...
Is this written in the rules??
Because at the hearing yesterday .. After a few stern words to the Dems with regard to their questions ... Pat Roberts mention the FBI asking members (I think last year) to take one and that Roberts thought it was an insult
I thought it was odd that he brought that up
"Intelligence tests? Fertility tests? What are you looking for?"
Wasserman test - it would explain the insanity, at least...
He really needs to get the hell out of politics.
Types of security clearances:
The scope of investigative work needed to grant a security clearance depends on the level of clearance being requested. There are three basic levels of security classification:
CONFIDENTIAL:
This refers to material, which, if improperly disclosed, could be reasonably expected to cause some measurable damage to the national security. The vast majority of military personnel are given this very basic level of clearance. This level needs to be reinvestigated every fifteen years.*
SECRET:
The unauthorized disclosure of secret information could be expected to cause serious damage to the national security. This level is reinvestigated every ten years.*
TOP SECRET:
Individuals with this clearance have access to information or material that could be expected to cause exceptionally grave damage to the national security if it was released without authorization. This level needs to be reinvestigated every five years.*
* Reinvestigations are more important than the original investigation because those individuals who have held clearances longer are more likely to be working with increasingly critical information.

I heard tonight that the committee told Gonzalez to plan on being there all day on Monday.
I'll have to check the Bush Manual of New Tone but I'm pretty sure Rockefeller could endorse assassination and the President would find a reason to overlook it. "Folks get upset. I appreciate that."
Are polygraph (lie detector) tests required?
The use of the polygraph for any Department of Defense program is governed by DoD Directive 5210.48 and DoD Regulation 5320.48R.
A polygraph examination is mandatory for employment by or assignment to the DSS and the National Security Agency (NSA) and for assignment (or loan) of DoD personnel to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA ). It is also mandatory for some SCI and SAP access programs.
Additionally, the polygraph may be used for any other personnel security investigations to resolve serious credible derogatory information and then only with consent. No adverse action may be taken solely on the basis of a polygraph examination that indicates deception, except upon the written finding by the Secretary or Under Secretary of Defense, or a Secretary of one of the military departments, that the classified information in question is of such extreme sensitivity that access under the circumstances poses an unacceptable risk to the national security.
Polygraph examinations may also be used to supplement investigations of federal felonies, of unauthorized disclosure of classified information or of alleged acts of terrorism, or when requested by the subject of a personnel security investigation, for exculpation with respect to allegations arising in the investigation.
The DoD regulation details the exact manner in which the examination must be conducted. No relevant question may be asked during the polygraph examination that has not been reviewed with the person to be examined before the examination, and all questions must have a special relevance to the inquiry. Certain "validating" questions may be asked without prior disclosure to establish a baseline from which the examiners can judge the validity of the answers to the relevant questions. The probing of a person's thoughts or beliefs, or questions on subjects that are not directly relevant to the investigation, such as religious or political beliefs or beliefs and opinions about racial matters, are prohibited.

Monday. Hmmmmmm. I guess I'll change my Monday plans to Tuesday.
He really needs to get the hell out of politics.
and that too.
He is such a smug SOB
Thanks for confirming..weren't you stunned also..? I was blown away..<>
...I caught AGAG on Brit's today, and he looked like the proverbial cat that swallowed the canary...very confident..and as I said..Babbin , IMHO would not be going public with this unless encouraged to do so...there's more afoot here..I expect..happily..
Did you ever notice that Rockefeller always looks guilty or like he is hiding something? I am serious, his demeanor and body language make him look like a Dog that peed on the carpet. Leahy has the same problem, he always looks guilty, but he probably did pee on the Carpet.
LOL -- and arrogant as well.
Maybe we can give him that extra shove he seems to need!
yup...
If this "Senator" is the leak, he should be impeached.
The shove that WVA voters should have given him long ago.
MB..can you please confirm what Babbin said..as I reported it...that refusal is an automatic loss of security clearance,a nd that Babbin specifically mentioned Rockefeler, Durbin ,and Wyden..
Ping!
Keeper says hi to Tucker and glad to hear he is
feeling well tonight.
Just keeping Keeper off my projects here at the computer
I'm blurry eyed .. but it sounds like they can't be forced to take one
I still wonder what the exact rules for the Senate Intel are
Also .. after the hearing yesterday .. Rockefeller, Feinstein and Wyden were in a little pow wow with a couple of staffer .. though there wasn't a mic and I couldn't tell what they were saying
When Rockefeller made that statement about the Executive Branch probably was the source of the leak, he was slapped down by FBI Director, Robert Mueller, since as he said the Justise Dept was a part of the Executive Branch and Rockefeller had no evidence that the Executive Branch was the source. Mueller was pissed and Jay "LEAKER"(Traitor) Rockefeller had to back down.
As you may recall, the NY Slimes treasonous article even mentions Rockefeller having doubts about the program. Rockefeller was not even to discuss this classified NATIONAL SECURITY Program with his staff. Yea, Rockefeller was one of the leakers.
LOL...this is gonna be SO much fun...I did watch Gonzalez tonight on Brit's show...and he didn't look like he felt guilty about anything...
and judging from that way that President Bush is purposely bringing up the subject, I think he feels on pretty solid footing as well..
BTW...Leahy DOES pee on the carpet..because he is "leaky" Leahy.
Rockefeller's pointing at the executive branch (a.k.a. WH) seemed to me completely gratuitous. He gave no reason whatsoever for his allegation.
I thought you would. Keep us posted, this will be hugh I am sure. That was a good heads up play.
Tucker thinks he likes pizza, nearly drove us nuts trying to get some!
So, think this will finally do ol' Rockefeller in? (rubbing hands together in anticipation)
Since when do these Dems ever give a reason whatsoever for their allegations.
I can inagine trying to nail Rockerfeller on this one. The Libs will go WILD , Bush Nazi tactics , blah lbah blah
Rockefeller was right, the Executive Branch told Rockefeller (and other Congresscritters) then Rockefeller leaked to the Press. Ultimate source the Executive Branch.
That's what I was looking for, but I couldn't find it.
Isn't there one called CODE?
I don't know the rules and laws that govern the Senate Intelligence Committee...but, you and I both see that according to the Senators...
THEY are untouchable...whereas President Bush has to justify every move he makes.
I would not put rockefeller above treason. he considers himself above the law, like clinton (both) and kennedy.
Off topic a tad...but did anyone hear Mark Levin tonight? I caught a few minutes..He was discussing some memomrandum that a Cinto DoJ atty wrote in 1994 ( and the guy has now written something attacking Bush about the NSA wiretaps)back then he said that the president.( Clinton) has the absolute authority to IGNORE any act of Congress that impedes his constitutional authority...anyone have any info?
Rocky and the rest of his ilk need to be exposed and
this corruption montra the dems are on needs to be
turned around where it belongs.
