The suspect should have been brought to justice on the spot..

Keep him in Arkansas, they'll deal with the cop killer correctly.

AP reports he has been arrested and hospitalized. "During the attempt to arrest him, Robida was injured" and it also reports that a policeman and a woman accompanying Robida were both killed in the shootout. A press conference coming up later.
No "official" confirmation from New Bedford (MA) police, but this is what CNN is reporting from AP.

Maybe there were too many witnesses.
The cops have ways of getting rid of garbage like this.

Yes Ark has death penalty. (Mass. of course has not, not even if a policeman is killed, despite Mitt Romney's attempt to
get that passed)

Still electrocution? Well he qualifies in more than one way. What's wrong with these teenage males? I sometimes wonder if you could stop them , would they still be killers in their 20's or 30's?

NORFORK, Ark. - A teenager accused of going on a rampage at a Massachusetts gay bar with a hatchet and a gun was in a Missouri hospital Saturday after two shootings in northern Arkansas that resulted in the death of a police officer and a woman accompanying the wounded teen, state police said.

Jacob D. Robida, 18, was transported to a hospital at Springfield, Mo., after an exchange of gunfire with police in Norfork, according to state police spokesman Bill Sadler.

Sadler identified the slain officer as Jim Sell, a member of the Gassville police force. Sadler said he did not know the name of the woman who died in the gunfire at Norfork.

Robida was wanted in the attack Thursday at Puzzles Lounge in New Bedford, Mass., that left three men wounded, one critically.

Police have labeled the attack a hate crime and said Robida would be charged with attempted murder, assault and civil rights violations.

Arkansas has the death penalty, but didn't the state also release those two school shooters who killed five people, after only jailing them for a few years? Not very "tough on crime" at all.

>>Arkansas forbids the execution of the mentally retarded.

Remember Bubba had a controversy about a death row inmate who was allegedly retarded?
From a 2000 FR post by Always Right:
"President Clinton took time off from his campaign in 1992 to be in Arkansas for the execution of Rickey Ray Rector. He was so brain damaged that he asked the guard to set aside his piece of pecan pie so he could eat it after his execution, according to the NY Times."

Yup. As I said, no death penalty in Mass. Boston-based talk host Howie Carr plays a clip from the song "God Bless
Texas" whenever the Lone Star State executes someone. He also
compares the death penalty to the barbershop: Mass. should have "two (electric) chairs...NO WAITING". Bring back ol'
Sparky.

update from Fox News: "A police officer from the northern Arkansas town of Gassville was shot as he attempted to apprehend Jacob D. Robida, according to state police spokesman Bill Sadler.

The teen sped away and exchanged gunfire with police in nearby Norfolk, where the 18-year-old was wounded and a female passenger was killed, Sadler said."

Something is very strange about the events that were said to have transpired in this case. They just don't add up.

The fact that this man shot a cop and the woman is dead, he should get death, no question. But I question the accounts of what happened at the bar.

If this had happened in a non-gay bar would the media be saying, "an attack at a straight bar" I think not. Why is the sexual orientation such a big deal?

I find it interesting that you can't say "colored" but a
"person of color" is OK. I'm a person of color--white. I'm
also a Native American. Born in Lynn, MA, part of America,
thus a Native American :)
