Principle trumps color

By Salena Zito TRIBUNE-REVIEW Sunday, February 5, 2006

Lynn Swann, Michael Steele, Condi Rice and Ken Blackwell face the same handicap every morning when they look in the mirror.

They're Republicans, but they're not supposed to be. Who made that rule? Democrats?

When they contemplate their reflections, they are looking into the eyes of card-carrying members of the party of home ownership and opportunity. That's content of character. Isn't that how Dr. King would judge them? Isn't that how you should judge them?

These are the new "A" team of the Republican Party. Not for the black of their skin, but for their values.

The Republican party has never been the racists' party starting from Lincoln, in fact quite the opposite. What tarnished its reputation is the defecting of some racist elements during the 60s from the Democratic party to the Republican, when the Dems veered sharply to the left.

Great article.

Pulling together a "coalition of the willing" fringe groups, gays, wackos, and other assorted nuts, is the only thing the dems have left.

Certain black politicos and rabble rousing lunatics certainly fall into that grouping.

Perhaps a tipping point can be established to counter that insufferable nonsense.

The Dems have successfully managed to bribe the blacks over the years with affirmative action. If we can pull even a quarter of them away they are in serious trouble, nothwithstanding the other fringe wackos groups. The problem is most blacks are now locked into a state of dependency or have seared in their minds that Republicans = white racist bigots, and Dems = pro minorities. De-brainwashing is going to take time but its already happening.

None of these count. They got educated and worked.

It doesn't count if you have to work. The game plan is to take from the white workers and redistribute to the black nonworkers. It's only fair.

Snip: Although Rice has served the country in many intellectual and policy capacities, she has never sought elected office...

Your response: "Sounds good. All except the Condi part."

Before I jump to an unfair conclusion regarding your statement, would you please elaborate?

I was all set to vote for Swann for governor and then I read a report that said that said Republicans are racist.

the premise that a democrat government is the only thing that will keep blacks from going back to seperate water fountains and shackles has been debunked and the race baiters that continue to push that message are as out of date and removed from reality as those japanese soldiers that emerge from the jungle twenty years after WW2 still personally at war against the US.

Indeed, if the GOP is true to its core, it is in a groovy position to render color less and less an issue. Democrats will not, cannot, do that because their race-based politics drives wedges between blacks and whites.

This quote is from the last part of the article and tells the bottom line to the DemocRAT party.

Republicans in office need to get off there tails and start to get on the soap box and court the black vote hard. Look the Rats constantly remind the Black vote that the Republicans are evil, don't go there or else. The GOP needs to really press this and not just throw up there arms and say well what are you going to do?

They will not go to a place they feel they are not wanted. They are wanted and should be part of the party that truely will do the best job for them. It can happen but it will take a long time and many seeds need to be planted, but the harvest will be great!

Don't know, but sadly the campaign manager of Swann's Republican primary challenger, Scranton, has labeled him "a rich white guy."

I've known Lynn Swann {via a mutual investment} for over 20 years, and whoever wrote that report {where is the link to "that report" is it real or did you imagine it} is full of bull.
