This is why there is a Guantanamo. Besides giving Durbin something to blubber about.

USS Cole Bomber Escapes Jail

That's not an escape. In that part of the world it is known as release with unsupervised probation ;-)

I disagree entirely with the notion that our values mean very much in the areas we are involved in.

Well you are completely wrong. The values of freedom and self-worth are changing the ME right before our eyes. As for the ME changing into a "fully democratic" mode....that is immaterial (hell we aren't a fully democratic State...we are Limited Republic...and thankfully so).

But if you don't think the values of self-worth and Freedom aren't changing the ME....you are entirely wrong. The fact is these two values have for far too long been denied the people of the ME. Now that they are emerging....they are spreading like wild flowers. The ME is changing every single day...and in 5 years, 10 years it won't be recognizable. The World will be forever thankful in the decades to come.

We have fought and continue to fight the most successful unconventional war in history. Since Sept 11th, 2001 our enemies have suffered one strategic defeat after another....we have not suffered one.

Best regards,

This whole thread relates to something that happened 1 year ago! Why hasn't this thread been pulled?

Exactly! I've never heard of prisoners digging a tunnel 140 yards long and escaping. It is just too hard to shore up and ventilate a tunnel of that length. Even the "Great Escape" tunnel in WWII was only 300 feet, and they had engineers on hand. Obviously, either the "escape" was an inside job, or the tunnel was mostly dug from the outside.

When we hit that Al-Queda leader in Yemen in 2002 with a Hellfire, we should have taken that prison out too.

NO WONDER THE FRENCH AND THE AP ARE SCREWED UP. THEY CAN'T TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOLDIERS AND SAILORS!

It appears this happened Friday, not a year ago, though suspects of the USS Cole bombing have escaped before, including in spring of 2003. This is the only story I could find that didn't require an excerpt:

Top Al Qaeda convicts escape from Yemen jail
04 Feb 2006 12:13:37 GMT
Source: Reuters
SANAA, Feb 4 (Reuters) - Thirteen al Qaeda militants convicted in the attacks on the U.S. warship Cole and the French supertanker Limburg in Yemen were among 23 men who broke out of jail in Sanaa, a state-run Web site said on Saturday.

The September 26 site (www.26sep.net) quoted unnamed sources saying the 13 convicts included top militants Jamal Badawi and Fawaz al-Rabe'ie, who managed to flee the central prison by digging a 70-metre-long tunnel.

Rabe'ie -- the leader of the group convicted of bombing the Limburg in 2002 -- was facing the death sentence, while Badawi was serving 15 years in jail for the bombing of the Cole in 2000 after his sentence was commuted from the death penalty.

Badawi had escaped from prison in Aden in 2003 but was later arrested and sent back to prison, the Web site said.

Yemen, the ancestral home of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, has cracked down on al Qaeda-linked militants following attacks at home.

"...Hit Yemeni govt. buildings with one JDAM for every prisoner "escaped". We should've done that a week after the Cole bombing...."

Remeber who was president then. The guttless, bent one.

Spot on.

Yemen should have executed these creeps after their trial.

The fact that they are Muslims is why they were not executed.

Muslim justice is pure BS, and the fact that these vermin have escaped just encourages my defiance to this asinine "religion" and the "courts" that judge by it.

Terrorists should not be taken and held as prisoners. Too much overhead.

I'm concerned. It seems like everything is coming together for something BAD to happen in the near future. I'm feelin' it and it ain't good.

I'm also feeling a bit apocalyptic; seems that everything is happening at once, very rapidly. It's Muslim Mayhem time.

BTW, this may be naive, since I don't know anything about military or prison security, but why weren't these men incarcerated in a totally foreign country where they would not know the language or customs & stick out like a sore thumb? It's much easier to capture prisoners in such a situation. Instead, in Yemen they will simply fade into the woodwork among a Muslim, and sympathetic, populace.

In earlier times of law, a prison warden who let his prisoner escape would undergo the fate of the prisoner in his place.

Geez! A tunnel stretched 400 feet from the jail to a Mosque.

Possible inside job? Tunnels are underground. Unless there was a clear line of sight from an upstairs window??

Something does not smell right!

.

I will NEVER FORGET how...

... the attempted sinking of the USS Cole,

...as in an actual 'Remember the Maine' U.S. Navy ship sinking in Havana Harbor that led to a media frenzy instigated war in the 1800's,

...just happened to take place on the very eve of a Presidential TV Dbate that Candidate AL GORE was due to lose for a 2nd time in a row..?

...A TV Debate that came very close to being canceled by the Womens League of Voters out of respect for our newly dead seamen & seawomen on a USS Cole Navy Ship ...that didn't end up sinking after all this time around..?

For...

..'It's the TV, Stupid, no matter WHO pays for it'...

...is still the CLINTONs' lifetime M.O.

Now, once again...

...how is it that when these Bombers of the USS Cole keep getting a 'Get out of Jail Free' Card...

...just as they're suddenly available behind bars for questioning by authorities..?

.

Of course it is an inside job, as Islamic terrorists have many sympathizers about the Moslem communities around the world.
