"No joint smoking" signs prove hot
Reuters ^ | Mon Feb 6, 2006

Amsterdam's new street signs banning cannabis smoking in parts of the city have sparked global interest.

The sign shows a red circle around a fat cannabis joint in a cloud of smoke sparked by white marijuana leaves. It has been installed at one square and surrounding streets in Amsterdam where young cannabis smokers are a nuisance (www.baarsjes.amsterdam.nl).

Soon after the installation on February 1, the first signs were stolen after which the Amsterdam council of De Baarsjes decided it would start selling what it believes is the world's first anti-cannabis road sign.

Over 400 consumers have approached the council to buy one of the "no joints" signs for 90 euros ($108), excluding shipping, a spokesman said.

"About 75 percent of the requests come from the United States," he said, adding interest is also coming from Singapore, Australia, Scandinavian countries and Germany.

The profits will be donated to a charitable cause that has yet to be chosen.

It is legal to own and use small quantities of soft drugs in the Netherlands whose relaxed position on the issue has brought it into conflict with other European countries like France which claims the Dutch undermine the global fight against drugs.

I thought they said once they legalized cannabis, they would not have any drug problems.

Well, technically... you won't...
If you legalize murder...
There is no "murder"...

They said that? I thought the Dutch policy was created because they recognized that it was impossible to stop drug problems, and so they might as well attempt to control it instead.

Awesome. You can count. We'll skip the basics, then. I'm not saying anything to you... you're the one that asked me what my point was. Obviously I have no point to make to you. I don't know you and honestly never took notice of you until you addressed me, asking what my point was. I don't care what you think of me, and you don't care what I think of you. I hope you don't, anyway.
Get a grip.

Um, you posted to me Skippy. I am not going to sleep if you have not interest in talking to me. But, again, since you are new here I'm trying to help. If your pearls of wisdom are not directed to me, please remove my name from the screenbox. Problem solved.

BTW, you might want to look into anger managment while you're at it. Your hostility is uncalled for.

Imagine that. One of these days they'll make it illegal again. They already moved the pot retailers out of the city and close to the border a couple of years ago.

Actually they are looking at extending decriminalization to the growing of marijuana.

That's not going to be allowed under Sharia. While the politicians are expending their energy on how to decriminalize pot, but still control all the problems associated with it, the Muslims are expending their energy on having babies.

This is a forum. That means people discuss topics with each other. There are no rules that you must be posted to before you respond. Presidio9 asked a question and the polite thing to do is answer it.

That's also how to get to know people. I figured you'd want to know that, being new and all.

I've made some wonderful friends on FR just that way. Friends I hang out with when I'm home and with whom I have the best times. You might try it - it can be a lot of fun.

Actually, it's worse than that. Skippy posted a picture to me, and then got bent out of shape when I asked him to explain. He has been doing similiar things on other threads, like the typical newbie bull in a china shop that he is.

You know we've had a bit of a troll infestation the past few days. I wonder if this is yet another one?

We've got the kitties working full time these days.

And I saw what Skippy posted to you. I thought he seemed a bit trollish. You handled him well. ;-)

Skippy posted a vanity to Front Page News on day one of his membership. Then he did it again two days later. The mods are too busy busting people for not being good libertarians on this so-called conservative website to notice something like that.
