Roethlisberger gets shave from Letterman

By The Associated Press Tuesday, February 7, 2006

NEW YORK - Ben Roethlisberger was happy to get rid of his good-luck beard. The Pittsburgh quarterback got a shave Monday night from David Letterman while appearing on the "Late Show," finally ridding himself of the scraggly light brown facial hair he's been growing since the Steelers lost to Cincinnati in October.

"I was so mad that we lost the game," Roethlisberger told Letterman. "I kind of went into a depression and didn't shave and we ended up winning the next game. And I am kind of superstitious -- just a little bit to people who know me -- but we won that game and I said I am just going to keep it going until we lose and we kept it going.

When the "bad officiating" whining starts, why does no one mention the two fumble recoveries stolen from the Steelers by the refs?

Bottom line, officiating did not decide this game. As with so many Super Bowls, neither team played particularly well, but the Steelers played better when it counted in this one.

As for Ben, he's a good kid and will be even better next year.

I agree that bad officiating did not decide this game - the Seahawks were their own worse enemy - what do you think the outcome would have been though if Seattle had ended the half up 14-0?

Complain about real problems like Refs who cannot count the number of players on the field like in that one bowl game!

Speaking of horses..

Please stop beating it. It's dead. It's over. Get on with your life.

Don't even get me started on a certain USC / Notre Dame game, which shall remain nameless, since I am "getting on" with my life ; )

They didn't, so what's the point of speculating about things that never were?

It's called a "hypothetical question" - you've never planned for anything even ONCE in your life?

I plan for the future. Speculating about what might have happened last Sunday is not productive.

Why has the press been so hesitant to criticize the worst officiating I have ever seen in an important game?

Respectfully, I don't think you've been paying enough attention to the press reports. Did you read the Jason Whitlock piece? I can point you to several articles that have absaolutely ripped the refs a new one.

I watched him on Dave's show, and even Roethlisberger thought it was not a touchdown - right from the horse's mouth.

But at today's parade in Dahntahn Pittsburgh, he said he reviewed the films and the tip did go in!

History repeats itself - how else could you sanely plan for the future?

Neither team played well. The refs blew a few. So One said won and the othger lost. Sound like LIFE.

I can't plan for the Steelers' future, only my own, so why should I waste my time pondering what might have happened two days ago in a football game involving people over whom I have no control? For that matter, why should I waste my time responding to your silly posts? I shouldn't, and therefore will not continue to do so.
