I dunno.....I've been looking for half an hour now......seems like there is something involving Lockheed and Los Alamos, but can't quite get a grip on it......here's some misc snips from along the way:

Homeland security director to visit Sandia and Los Alamos labs
February 18, 2002

Tom Ridge, director of President Bush's Office of Homeland Security, will tour Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories on Feb. 21.

Rep. Heather Wilson wrote to Ridge earlier this year and invited him to Sandia to see the advanced technologies being developed in New Mexico in support of homeland security. Sandia, Wilson told Ridge, has worked for years on sensor and detection technologies for nuclear, biological, and chemical events.

Ridge will be formally briefed on the homeland defense capabilities of NISAC, the National Infrastructure Simulation and Analysis Center, which provides tools for modeling, simulation and analysis of the vulnerabilities and possible protections for all critical infrastructures, including the cyber infrastructure. The 2001 Anti-Terrorism Act authorized $20 million for the program.

Sen. Pete Domenici (R-N.M.) suggests that the labs should operate as the science, technology and systems integration agent for Ridge's Homeland Security office.

Ridge will visit Sandia in the morning and is scheduled to be in Los Alamos in the afternoon.

Domenici Statement on Appointment of Rep. Heather Wilson to Chair Intel Subcommittee
from the Office of Senator Pete V. Domenici
Wednesday, January 26, 2005
WASHINGTON – In response to news that Congresswoman Heather Wilson has been named chair of the House Subcommittee on Technical and Tactical Intelligence, U.S. Senator Pete Domenici issued the following statement:
“Having Congresswoman Wilson serve as chair of the Subcommittee on Technical and Tactical Intelligence is recognition of her growing leadership, expertise and seniority on military and intelligence issues.
"It also places her in an excellent position to boost New Mexico’s national labs. Sandia and Los Alamos both receive substantial funding every year to work on intelligence-related items, and Heather Wilson’s subcommittee has jurisdiction over research and development that is intelligence-related.
“I look forward to continuing to work closely with her to make America as safe as possible.”

Lockheed Martin's influence extends from the White House to Congress. Heather Wilson is the New Mexico Representative covering Los Alamos. According to www.opensecrets.org , LM is her largest donor, giving twice as much as the next contributor. Is it any surprise that she has pushed resolutions calling for more nuclear weapons funding? Would anyone be surprised if she was favorable to the LM bid to take over Los Alamos National Laboratory? Lockheed Martin donates strategically to both Senators from New Mexico. Only the most naive person could think these donations do not influence the politicians.

Rep. Heather Wilson, R-N.M., cautioned that Lee is innocent until proven guilty. "The (security) problems at labs are not unique," she said. "We need to address problems in the DOE, the Department of Defense and the State Department."

Among those joining the criticism was Rep. Heather Wilson (R-N.M.), a former National Security Council staff member, who said the Clinton administration sought only $7 million in the fiscal 2000 budget for security. Congress eventually increased the amount to $65 million, but that is still not enough, according to Wilson.

Nothing, there is no such committtee. But there is a Republican Policy Committee, which Rep. Adam Putnam (R-FL) chairs.

The Republican Policy Committee is nothing more than a committee to get all Republicans on the same page..... it's where the weekly House Republican meetings are held. For the record, the Democrats have their own policy committee, which Pelosi chairs.

Heather Wilson (R) 44%
Patricia Madrid (D) 43%

Well, that's the answer right there. Poor Heather is worried about losing to Patty. So she throws the rest of us to the dogs so she can keep her big important job. What a dame! This is all just fun and games to these people.
How many times I have wished that Flight found its mark.

The lead sentence of the article says:

A House Republican whose subcommittee oversees the National Security Agency ......

Is the NY Times wrong about that?
