"Happy Ashoura everybody!"

Did you get a gift? Are they registered anywhere? I was at a Hallmark store and couldn't find a card! My goodness, what to do, what to do!?

She is a little muslim Ninja

Actually the Ninja were quite different than Muslims. They bathed so as not to alert their enemies of their presence during an assassination attempt (think "scent")

nin·ja (nĭn'jə) pronunciation n., pl. ninja or -jas.

A member of a class of 14th-century Japanese mercenary agents who were trained in the martial arts and hired for covert operations such as assassination and sabotage.

Oh look, how sweet, little muslim girl already wearing her slavery garb for fear that some man might look at her and have lustful thoughts.

Islam is a sickness.

Generally I prefer to lurk at message boards because I have nothing pertinent to add, but I saw those photos and something from the Bible popped into my head:

Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

(Matthew 10:29-30, KJV)

Your picture didn't show up

Probably just as well. The image was disturbing.

When I read your headline about an adorable Moslem girl on her way to a religious ceremony, my first thought was I hope she is not on her way to her ritual circumcision, where they cut off her clitoris (to prevent ever having an orgasm) and then sew her vagina shut for her husband to cut open on their wedding night. This procedure, as I hope all freepers know by now, is done when every moslem girl reaches about the age of five and is yet another adorable characteristic of the religion of peace.

Then I saw how young she is and realized, God bless her, she has at least a year before she is thus butchered.

When Mohammed came to Medina, the peoples of that area were Baal worsippers

You do realize he was kicked out of Mecca for trying to abolish such religions, don't you?

Besides, you need to narrow down which Ba'al you're talking about. The word basically means "lord" and as far as the Arab worship before Mohammed is concerned can apply to any of the myriad gods the idols of Mecca and Medina were set up for. If you mean Ba‘al Hammon (known for child sacrifice, etc.), which some take to have been a moon god, that's a different god worshipped by the Carthaginians, long before Mohammed and far away from the Arab areas.

Paint, blood, everything I've ever read it is paint on their faces. Purely symbolic. Blood on their backs from the self-floggings.

My point being that his beliefs were watered down and altered by the peoples in that region, so some of the ancient people's practices are still used today.

It's no different from the pagan customs that were introduced into Christianity by the pagans. Christmas trees, mistletoe, Easter (Ishtar) bunnies, etc. etc. All beliefs become corrupted at some point.

Please tell me that is just paint.

Or at least tell me that is someone else's blood.

And if it is the child's own blood, then please don't claim that this religion is anything but wacko!

On second thought, if it is blood (child's or not), then please don't claim that this religion is anything but freaking nuts!
