(IsraelNN.com) Maariv daily reports that a millionaire businessman from Ra'anana has offered to donate $20,000 to Land of Israel protestors in order to purchase equipment, including helmets, batons and shields for use in defending themselves during the next expulsion attempt.
"When I saw what happened at Amona, that the balance of power was unequal, I didn't see police, I saw masked faces with shields and helmets and I want the settlers to have them too," the man told Maariv. "I don't want the settlers to attack the expellers, I want them to be able to defend themselves," he emphasized.
The man refused to be identified, for fear of government retribution and damage to his businesses. Land of Israel activists from central Israel told Maariv that they are considering taking the donation, but must consider whether it will cause an escalation in violence or not. "We must, to our sorrow, arrive at a balance of power with the police," they said. "We didn't want it to come to this, but perhaps it's proper for us to become like certain other populations and cause the police fear, too."
That is ridiculous. On so many levels.
Um, making it more equal is just going to make it more bloody. Will he buy uzis and tanks for the protesters too?
When the IDF plays the role of the Redcoats, and the settlers the American colonists, what other course is there? Evicting Jews from Jewish land is a criminal action. That the government is doing it doesn't make it any less so.
