"She lost his combat boots on her "magical mystery tour", too. Left 'em behind somewhere."

That's not surprising considering she left Casey father, and siblings behind somewhere. Not to mention the brave and honorable man that Casey was in life was left "somewhere" as well.

I don't think she has had any dignity to leave behind somewhere in the recent past so count that out as well.

I can't help the feeling that conservatives screwed the Sheehan situation up strategically.

I think it's the opposite. The longer they keep her as the 'voice of anti-war', the more Americans see how strange these people are and turned off by them. Especially since she cannot really limit her comments on war-related issues.

now that would be funny! To have her auction won by a group of Freepers.............and taped. For broadcast uncensored, unedited. And no handlers there to whisper in her ear what to say and when to say it.

What would be the best venue? A VFW hall...if one could be found large enough? Or just a recording studio so she would have no paid hecklers in the audience, no code pinkos to tell her what to say.

What say the other Freepers out there?

Yeah, having Sheehan up in Feinstein's uterus would be kinda awkward, though her muffled sounds might sound more sensible than they do now. ;-)

"Remember that there were faithful Democrats who believed with all their hearts that Bill Clinton was innocent of the affair until he went on tv and said that he had done some things."

Similarly, there are posters on this forum who think the MSM not the priests are responsible for the mega-molestation scandal.

The media isn't so focused on sex scandals in the public school system or the United Nations. A lot of molesters getting sheltered there too.

Doesn't excuse what goes on in some churches. And those pushing for married priests won't do much to solve the problem either.

But the nature of the reporting seems to be to discredit the Catholic Church more than it is about stopping an abuser. The focus seems more on blaming the hierarchy when there is institutionalized protection in the public school system and UN as well (yet each of those is treated as an isolated case).

The truth of the matter, and I know because I was working for a newspaper, is that the MSM was leary of upsetting Catholics for a long time while some local papers were dealing with it in isolated fashion.
As in: Oh, isn't it a shame what's happening in Lafayette, La? So glad that it isn't happening here in Boston (Chicago, Honolulu, St. Patrick's Cathedral, etc.)
So, just as we see today isolated articles about teacher abuse, there was about a decade of isolated articles before the MSM had to admit that it was fragmenting what was a unified national scandal. Unified in the sense that the Church had a national strategy for dealing with accusations.

More quotes from CNN:

SAN FRANCISCO, California (CNN) -- While criticizing Sen. Dianne Feinstein for supporting President Bush's war policies, Cindy Sheehan said Thursday that she won't run against the popular California Democrat because she could be more effective as a vocal anti-war activist.

"I, as an American and as the mother of a hero, pledge to do what I can as a citizen to end the occupation of Iraq," Sheehan told reporters. "I am not running against Senator Feinstein, but I will continue to be a thorn in her side and a thorn in the side of any representative who is not stridently working for peace."

. . .

Sheehan blasted Feinstein for giving Bush the green light "to invade an innocent country" when she voted in October 2002 for a resolution authorizing the Iraq war, and for continuing to vote to finance the war. "It is not enough to criticize the president's policies, while you are handing him more money to fund his policies. It is like giving an addict more money to purchase drugs when you would like him to quit," she said.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/02/09/sheehan.senate/index.html

I do note that CNN fudges the timeline as well: "Sheehan was thrust into the spotlight (MORE THAN A YEAR) after her son, Army Spc. Casey Sheehan, 24, was killed in Iraq on April 4, 2004. She has hounded the Bush administration since August (2005!), when she and hundreds of fellow protesters began camping outside his ranch near Crawford, Texas, demanding an audience with the president." At least CNN mentioned (2 PARAGRAPHS LATER) that Sheehan has already met once with Bush, along with other relatives of troops killed in Iraq: "During that meeting, she later said, the president refused to look at pictures of her son, didn't want to hear about him and "didn't even know Casey's name.")

I can't wait for CNN to go bankrupt.

This is really disappointing. The political theatre would have been very entertaining.

Why doesn't she not run for God while she's at it.

A person in her position, shouldn't be forced to take a position beneath Her.

Hillary would have Sheehan killed, and then her goons would dump the body in a park.

Video ping from national CBS news tonite. ~02:30 long, just the Commie Mommie blabbing away -- cover dogs' ears and store all fine crystal first!

From an Oakland station, couldn't get it to work, I'm using Win98 maybe that's a factor...

Third video, from NBC affiliate, couldn't get this to work either
