U.S. gives Mexico millions for securityBy Jerry Seper THE WASHINGTON TIMES February 13, 2006 The U.S. government has sent more than $376 million to Mexico in the past decade for that country's military and police to help stop alien and drug smugglers, guard against terrorists and protect America's southern border, including $50 million due this year. The money, quietly authorized through State and Defense department programs, has been used to train and equip the Mexican military and police, drawing disagreement on whether those institutions are part of the solution for U.S. border security, or are part of the problem. Rep. Rick Renzi, Arizona Republican and a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said the program has had "great success" and helped put narcoterrorists and smugglers "on the defense."

I heaed on Fox this morning that 40% of all cocaine smuggled into the US comes across the Mexican border with Texas. We either need to get control of Mexico or get control of Texas.
Might as well have thrown that money into a bonfire.
Sorry about the link! It does not work, if any of you want the full story please let me know and I'll email it to you.
Let me get this straight... millions to Mexico to "guard our southern border" and millions to an Arab company to "guard our ports." Who is running Homeland Security... Daffy Duck?
....The U.S. government has sent more than $376 million to Mexico in the past decade for that country's military and police to help stop alien and drug smugglers, guard against terrorists and protect America's southern border,...
And they use the money to wage war against us.
Way to go W. You idiot.

Correspondence: Honorable Tom Tancredo,
Thank you immeasurably for your voice in Washington on behalf of those of us who are appalled at the illegal alien crisis.
While there are many who claim we simply can't afford a "continuous linear border barrier", let me bring to mind a few points of which I'm sure you are already aware.
Mexico and Central/South America account for as much as 70% of the illegal drugs coming into these United States. All those drug sales mean that large amounts of cash accumulate in stash houses and collection points around the country.
Those, many times, are well guarded by those willing to kill to protect their "industry". For the multi-billion dollar narcotics business - like any commodities business -- it is essential that the suppliers and transporters be paid.
That means the money must make its way south, and the traffickers, aided by specialists in money laundering, have devised myriad methods to insure the efficient and safe delivery of their profits. That safe delivery is made without apprehensions of murder, should anyone dare complicate the flow of funds.
Estimates on how much money is sent south each year range from $10 to 30 billion. For Mexican traffickers along the Southwest border, the money is literally driven across the border in bulk amounts and then deposited into Mexican banks.
America's best angle to interrupt that flow of drugs and money is with a border barrier structure that increases the difficulty of that movement without observation. It is estimated that if the US invests as much in a barrier for the 2000 mile stretch as we invest in a four-lane highway (approx $13 million/mile), our costs to taxpayers would still only amount to about half of the annual trade in illegal drugs - roughly $26 billion. That is an investment with exponentially compounded savings to be realized each year from the aid to enforcement of our immigration code.
Not only can we find the way to deter criminal border entries, but deterring illegal aliens and interrupting the flow of "undocumented pharmaceuticals" has benefits by far outweighing any negative implications.
Keep up the good fight and may God Bless.
Our government things it is okay to flush money down a rat's hole.
We are paying for the military uniforms and Humvees the Mexican soldiers are using to escort drug dealers/\
Just like we are sending money to Palestinians to buy weapons to use against Israel.
Lets just stop sending foreign aid to people who arent on our side...
Please Mr Bush they are either with us or against us as you said , lets not support those who are against us.
In the word's of 'old Pa Kettle'....."....sure could build a fine wall....for that kind of money..."
We could use a bright guy like ol Paw Kettle.
I'm sure if he was real, he'd be too smart to go to DC.
Perhaps this tells us why the contributions are being made by Bush.
Millions for defense, but not one cent for Mexico!
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off this South Texas/Mexico ping list.
Texas has the longest share of the border with Mexico. Close to 40%.
Remember, Bush has only been Pres. for about half of those 10 yrs. The State Dept. still needs some house cleaning.
