Brit Hume's Special Report with Robert Novak

Posted on 02/14/2006 6:59:32 AM PST by jubail

Monday's edition of Brit Hume's Special Report, the best political show on television, had Bob Novak sitting in the first panelist chair normally occupied by a conservative. He continued spewing his Bush bashing venom from his days at CNN. I never thought I would send Brit a negative email but I did this morning. Is he trying to drive away viewers?

Novak is "old school" Republican...

Novak's earned a place at the table. Not every day, but a place...

His age was on display. He is very old and not up to speed. He should not be on Brit. He wants Washington to conform to his obsolete views.

I emailed Brit immediately after last nights show. Novak is clearly not up to the standard of Special Report.

Know the type well. A very competitive Bohunk who escaped the petit bourgeois and is determined to progress in the ladder of life until he is treated like a God.

He does not belong on a panel of people who basically like each other in spite of their political differences. No one is going to like Novak and Novak is not going to like anyone else.

I agree with your assessment of Mort....I do love him though! I just wish Mort & Fred (The Beltway Boys) were on an hour each day rather than just 30 minutes on Saturday...hey, maybe they could cut Shep to one hour vs the two he's already got!!!

What I dislike about Novak is that he is the Republican mirror image of the angry Democrat. The best thing that Republicans have going for them is that they tend to be more positive and and less angry. People are tired of the yelling and screaming, they don't hear the message , if all the politicians and talking heads do is criticize. If Novak and other conservatives want to criticize, they need to present it in a constructive manner, not angry and bitter.

I don't know what he said, because once he started the "poor response by the federal government to Katrina" without mentioning the state and local officials, I went to fill my car up with gas.

I did the same thing when some phony story would come out about the "greenhouse effect".

The only thing that bothers me about Novak is that when he talks I expect food to come spittering out.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one that notices these things.

Does that program with Mark Shields and Al Hunt still air, where Novak plays the conservative and the rest of the group constantly jumps all over him?

Nope. CNN dumped that program due to poor ratings.

"-----hey, maybe they could cut Shep to one hour vs the two he's already got!!!"

How about cutting Shep out --- completely. His theatrics finally chased me out. Lately, I've been going over to Chris Matthews. I don't like what I hear there, but I hear what I expect, without a lot of emoting all over the place.

Krauthammer is the best!! You can almost see the wheels turning in that remarkable brain of his, as he gets his turn on the panel. Amazing man. I respect him so much!!

I turn the TV OFF before I watch Matthews. I can take or leave Shep. Mostly leave.
