Definitely will be horrific attacks from the media.

They will be vultures on a death watch for this man. They are evil.

"ONE birdshot has moved to his heart per doc on FOX."

Wonder how long it will be before David Gregory starts screaming about Whittington's lack of body armor? [sarcasm]

Man, I hope this guy recoups quickly - for his sake, for the VP's and for our nation. The WH press will never let this story go, even if Iran nukes Tel Aviv. It wouldn't matter.

Why is the WH involved!

JMJ --- WH doctors were on site and helped treat him originally.

I hate our press.

I agree. The press is going to go crazy with this. They will accuse the VP's office and the hospital of a cover-up, even more so than they already have.

It is related. Bird shot found in his heart. Will treat conservatively, without surgery. Surg has too many risks for a 78 yr old.

How many birdshots are lodged in his body?

Welcome to FR. Nice name. You did see where it was caused by a piece of the bird shot right?

Some reporter just asked if this is a private matter, why is the White House involved. If the WH wasn't involved, they would spin it as them not caring.

"Man, I hope he doesn't die. The press would have a field day. Even if it wasn't due to the shotgun pellets, it would be a circus."

Serious response: I wish him well. An elderly man, a good man by all accounts. CNN says he is having heart problems because of a pellet in his heart.

Not so serious response: If you wanted a conspiracy theory- A Republican loyalist agrees to be shot to give Vice President Cheney an excuse to resign so President Bush/Karl Rove can pick a new VP for a Presidential run.

I work with a lib, and even she admits that the press - especially the narcistic White House press corp gaggle of wackos - have gone off the deep end. She actually said to me yesterday, to paraphrase: "Enough about Cheney... What are we going to do about that guy in Iran?!?! He's nuts!!"

Hmmm, even some on the left are "getting it." :-)

Double WOW. A lib worried about the nut in Iran. Simply amazing.

No reasonable person is going to hold this tragic accident against Dick Chaney if Whittington dies.

We're talking the Washington DC press corps here - they will go into hyper-spin.

Drudge now says he suffered a "heart irregularity".

Somebody better put 24/7 protection on this elder.

Nothing better for the liberals and the MSM to see this guy expire in the hospital right now.

At the very least, we should make David Gregory be a taster for him.

Fox News presser verifying this.

This is totally off the subject, but I've always been interested in the evolution of the English language. I don't recall seeing press conferences referred to as "pressers" before late last year. Does anyone know the origin of this term?

Media: Can this be fatal?

True enough, but in a 78 year old man, nothing can be taken for granted. If he's in the hospital for a week, there are all sorts of complications that can come up.

It ain't easy being old.

How did it move to the heart if it didn't get inside the heart chamber? It sounds as if it slightly penetrated the heart wall, but that contradicts the statement that it moved.

BTW..my husband told me this morning that the guys that he works with that are dems...were "celebrating" last night..thinking this would get Cheney out of the VP office...

I for one, am worried about Cheney...I am sure he feels awful...and NOW with this...the news said that one of the pellets moved into his heart causing the attack...

If so...I am sure NO ONE could be harder on Cheney than he is on himself...
