A Statement From Cheney
National Review Online ^ | 2/14/06 | VP Statement (via Byron York)

Posted on 02/14/2006 12:31:19 PM PST by frankjr

The vice president's office just released the following statement:

"The Vice President was told when he arrived at the White House this morning that doctors had decided, based on overnight monitoring, to perform a cardiac catheterization on Mr. Whittington.

The Vice President's chief of staff passed him a note at about 12:30pm ET to inform him that Mr. Whittington's doctors would brief in Texas about 1:00pm ET on complications in Mr. Whittington's condition. The Vice President was on Capitol Hill when he received this information.

When the Vice President returned to the White House, he was able to watch part of the press conference. At about 1:30pm ET, the Vice President called Mr. Whittington and spoke to him. The Vice President wished Mr. Whittington well and asked if there was anything he needed. The Vice President said that he stood ready to assist. Mr. Whittington's spirits were good, but obviously his situation deserves the careful monitoring that his doctors are providing.

The Vice President said that his thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Whittington and his family."

Howlin' - didn't know you were there. Are you really Williford?

Where was he then? Can you draw us a diagram? How about just a compass point?

Actually our prayers are needed. It sounds like some of the shot (from the shot gun shell) is moving around inside of Mr. Whittington. That means that the shot is moving through his body in the blood stream. The small shot can get lodged in places. Right now the doctors are saying that the shot is collecting in an area inside his heart, causing what the medical team calls a mild heart attack.

Mr. Whittington is not out of the woods yet, and he could die from the accident. I can see the anti-gun spin on this one.

Oh - quick with the juvenile name calling, but can't back up your own assertions. That's rich, Howlin'.

Where was he then? Was he 'comin' right for' the VP?

Do know that Jeb has made a joke today. Not sure about Dubya

Who hasn't made a joke about it. I am sure Mr. Whittington has as well.

Can you give a shred of support for your contentions that (a) Whittington was in the brush and (b) he was in the VP's zone of fire? A shred?

You know that the game warden's report attributed this accident to an error in the 'hunter's judgment', don't you? There is also a box on the form for a person moving into the line of fire. That one wasn't checked.

I guess it's been a while since you had an NRA refresher. The PRIMARY responsibility for making sure the shot is clear rests with the person whose finger is on the trigger. There is not a shred of evidence that this guy was obscured in any way, or that he was in the zone of fire. Every account says that the VP swung on him. But if you are just going to make up facts I guess it is easy to make it work out your way.

He was on his left side, in between Cheney and the setting sun.

I think what pisses me off the most is that NOBODY in the lamestream media seems to give a damn about the tremendous guilt that Cheney must be dealing with. It was an ACCIDENT, why can't these vultures just leave everyone involved alone?

According to who? And are you saying he was ahead of the line? It is STILL wrong to swing on someone who is in the line.

If you are claiming he was ahead of the line, you need to have some proof, because the eyewitness who gave the story said he was behind.

If his people and a number of FReepers weren't spending all their time trying to blame the guy with shot in his face, his feelings of guilt might be a little more apparent.
