I'm in the stupid position of watching CBS news.
This is the biggest load of MSM crap I've ever seen.
Bob Schieffer and Gloria Borger are full of shite.

Meanwhile, on ABC it was Diane Sawyer and Elizabeth Vargas trying desperately to think of something else bad to say after every few seconds of Dick Cheney's clip.

It was so pointless and inane, I can't think of any of it worth writing down.

Sawyer did add that President Bush knows a little about hunting mishaps of his own and then she noted he had written about one such incident in his book.

I know what it was! It was when he shot a killdeer the first day of dove season, when he was running against Ann Richards for governor and they were hunting together as the annual photo-op ritual on opening day. That was 1994. Here's a google blurb about it:

"Always eager to enlighten voters on key issues like crime, education, and the economy, NBC discovered a new issue: the "wildlife misdemeanor." Through early October, Today has aired only one story on the Texas Governor's race. Instead of addressing issues that voters find important, Jim Cummins dedicated his time to a dead bird, inadvertently shot by the GOP candidate during a hunting trip.

George W. Bush, son of the former President, is running against Gov. Ann Richards, and in an annual ritual, the two candidates went dove hunting on the first day of the season with the press in tow. Unfortunately, the GOP hopeful mistakenly shot an endangered killdeer. Recognizing he bagged the wrong bird, Bush admitted his mistake to the game warden and announced his desire to pay the fine.

Cummins concluded by warning: "His misdeed with a shotgun is going to cost the Republican candidate for Governor a lot more than that [$130 fine] before election day. One Democrat joked about Bush, `A guide told him to shoot and he did. That's typical of George -- he only does what he is told and he often hits the wrong target.'"

I'm just listening to fox while reading here and those commentators were making me mad. Who was it that kept insisting that Cheney never said it was his fault? Talk about parsing words!

Hey Barnes...it's not a defining moment in Cheney's career.

They wish it were so.

All the liberal MSM is doing is trying to make him appear ugly in case he's the GOP nominee in 08.

And don't think that might not happen...with Rice as VP.

In case anyone forgot, we're fighting a war against an insane Iranian president and a bunch of people who kill and burn over cartoons.

Give hime the 'Kingsfield shrouding®*' treatment.

Call on the person in front of him.. to his right.. to his left... behind him... but never on him.

*Fans of 'The Paper Chase' may remember this.

Mort must be doing drugs if he thinks that any type of statement, even a short one from the WH would have "kept the hounds at bay." Who is he kidding?

I have no idea what is with the obsession thinking that the Republican nominee has to be the vice president. It's so stupid. The Republican nominee does NOT have to be the vice president. Nor is it likely to help any potential candidate if they become vice president now. I just can't fathom what would make anyone think it's necessary for the next Republican nominee to be vice president. Historically, it hasn't worked out very well. I don't know why people are obsessed with thinking we can't win if the Republican nominee isn't the vice president. It's just ridiculous and it's really aggravating me. Cheney IS NOT and SHOULD NOT go anywhere before January 2009.

Great post!!
This is from CNN:
About Fox News:JACK CAFFERTY: Well, I obviously didn’t see it because it hasn’t been released in its entirety yet. But I would guess it didn’t exactly represent a profiling courage for the Vice President to wander over there to the “f-word” network for a sit down with brit hume. I mean that’s a little like Bonnie interviewing Clyde, ain’t it? Where was the news conference? Where was the access to all of the members of the media? I don’t know, whatever.

Mort Kondracke is starting to really p*$$ me off.

Barnes reminding everyone that only the press is mad...the people don't care.

Brit is asking if this is a political hit by the press...Barnes says if the press keeps it up..yes.

Brit said that another crew in front of the WH when he arrived wanted to know why he and Fox got the interview. Brit said that Cheney probably wanted to go w/the network that had the largest audience. LOL

That is all I can think when I watch him. He is heartsick.
He handled it the right way by deferring to the wife of his friend. He doesn't give a rip what the press thinks, all he cares about is his friends recovery.

Brit Hume, "I was approached by a newscrew from another network and asked why FNC was given the interview; was it because Fox News is a conservative network? I replied maybe it was because the Vice President wanted to appear on the network with the most viewers."

It was a deathblow!
