I listened to his explanation and it sounded like the right response to me. Had he called a press conference immediately it would have been like buzzards on roadkill. With keeping it low key, Mr. Whittingham (sp?) and his family were able to get a grip on the situation. Imagine the madhouse the hospital would have been. The press would have been accosting the dang candy stripers. It was an accident, while unfortunate and my prayers go out to both families, I don't need to know every minute detail. On the other hand Al Gore goes to Saudi Arabia, throws gasoline on a smoldering fire and you hear nothing. Which will have more effect on your life? Dick Cheney's hunting accident or enraging homicidal maniacs who you know want you dead and will stop at nothing to kill you?

Here's further verification of what Rush gives as the reason Mr.Whittington is still in the ICU;

"The 'arrogance of power' the pricks on the Left are upset about is the arrogance of democracy."
Of course the democrats arrogance is not arrogance?
What about this arrogant bustard?

Should we start a betting pool:
Who will be the first to call for a congressional hearing into the "delay" in reporting the incident to the press?

The fact that both the President and VP doesn't care about the press, or polls, infuriates them.
Before elected!
Bush: "Him down there is an a-hole" (Clymer?)!!
Cheney: "Yes, BIG time"!!!

Well, he's gone and done it now. He's antagonized the press and they'll never let him forget it. He'll get nothing but critical write-ups from here on out. Why, if he were running for public office again, the press probably wouldn't even vote for him.

It was a personal issue, especially since the old fellow didn't die.
I don't know if it ever had to be in the press.
Maybe if Cheney said he was doing that in the name of the government and then shot him I could see the press having a right to know fast, but outside of that I don't agree with the press at all here. (big shock) LOL
