NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Vice President Dick Cheney told Fox News Channel in an exclusive interview Wednesday afternoon that he believed he properly handled the disclosure of his involvement in a hunting accident in Texas last week.

Cheney accidentally shot a fellow hunter at a Texas ranch on Saturday while hunting quail. Harry Whittington, a 78-year-old lawyer, has been hospitalized in Corpus Christi ever since and suffered a mild heart attack Tuesday.

They still aren't seeing their irrelevance yet. Does he sound agitated to anybody else?

The WaPo article contains none of the anti-Fox snarkyness I was expecting.

I heard that CNN kept referring to Fox as "another network" when reporting his interview.

It's hard for someone to make the case that he should have gone on CNN or MSNBC when Fox crushes them in the ratings.

Everybody with any sense knows that Cheney went with FOx news because he know they wouldn't parse his words, leave out the facts or play "I PULLED THE TRIGGER"...OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
DId anyone see what lie Katie/Matt's show did this morning???
They said FOX never disclosed that Cheney said he had one beer at lunch!!! I believe I did hear FOX say that....anyone else?

Last night on Special Report Brit was talking to the panel at the end of the show when he told them about what happened after he left the interview with the V.P.. He was walking out of the building when he passed a network crew and stopped to chat with them. He said they wanted to know how he landed that interview, if it was because of Fox's obvious conservative stance. Brit responded to the interviewer that it probably the viewer numbers that they had, and that was the real reason. He then laughed and said he doubted they would use that sound bite on their broadcast.

In case someone missed it, here's the full quote from that jerk Cafferty that IrishMike mentioned above with a comment from Hugh following(this was lifted from Hugh Hewitt's blog):

From CNN's Jack Cafferty this afternoon:

Jack Cafferty: Well, I obviously didn’t see it because it hasn’t been released in its entirety yet. But I would guess it didn’t exactly represent a profile in courage for the Vice President to wander over there to the “f-word” network for a sit down with Brit Hume. I mean that’s a little like Bonnie interviewing Clyde, ain’t it? I mean, where was the news conference? Where was the access to all of the members of the media? I don’t know, whatever.

Wolf: Do you still think he needs to do a full scale news conference, invite all the cameras, all the reporters and ask whatever they want?

Cafferty: That's never going to happen. But I mean running over there to the Fox Network to do it, i mean talk about seeking a safe haven. He's not going to get any high hard ones from anybody at the f-word ntework, I think we know that."

Hugh Hewitt writes:

How bitter at cable eclipse can you be? The Veep went on the most watched network likely to give his interview a complete airing. He was interviewed by the most respected and experienced anchor in America right now by the people who care about professionalism.

And a one-on-one interview is much more productive than a gaggle of screamers trying to score cheap shot points, as David Gregory has amply demonstrated over the past two days.

I bet you that there are less than 500,000 people in America that have heard about this idiot Jack Cafferty.

I am sure CNN is stunned, STUNNED, that they did not get this interview.

I was watching when Brit said it. Good! That had to be one jaw locking moment for the people at the other network.

I watch Brit Hume every night, but until this moment I never heard of Jack whatever. And tomorrow, I won't remember Jack.

I hope that the next republican administration that gets in announces they are going to renovate the press room and so it will be temporarily closed while the repairs are going on. Then I hope they just never bother to reopen it.

Wasn't the accident several hours after lunch? I don't remember if we have been told exactly when it happened...not that one beer would have caused any impairment.

Fox said this morning that so far, no other network has asked to air the interview. I guess the others are sufficient to drive more viewers to Fox so they can see it for themselves instead of a 3rd rate review.

I saw another article from the Washington Post today "Cheney Expresses Remorse, Defiance" by Peter Baker which includes the line "...in a hastily arranged White House interview with the Fox News Channel -- which Democrats maintain has a pro-Bush bias."

I'd love to see, in fairness, every article from the NYT and Washington Post include "which Republicans maintain has a pro-Democrat bias."
