I'm amazed at the penetration of the bird shot. I'd guess VP Cheney was shooting number 7.5 or 8 shot at quail from a modified choke 28 gauge barrel. How did a number 8 pellet penetrate far enough to touch Mr. Whittington's heart?

I agree, I find it odd also.

Cheney also said that the RIGHT hand side of Whittington was sprayed with pellets.
