exactly.
Assault???
Someone is trying to change the whole story here....
(Hey who let this LIBERAL IN HERE!!!)
Reading Comprehension.
Please.
"What if the other boy took a baseball bat and smashed you over the head with it? All in fun? Just kids being kids?"
You make ZERO sense!! I do not have to explain.
I have no doubt that you are a PC Troll.
oh, by the way, that is irrelevant. it still remains fact that a fat lip and a few bruises would not have rated as "significant injury" back in the day - irrespective of cause.
"t seems, sometimes, that somewhere down the line we lost the vital concept that boys who cry when they get hurt playing rough boy games are p***ies."
s'pecially when ya get hit by a girl fur pete's sake!
Agreed... but also, "back in the day", these parents wouldn't be calling the media and hiring lawyers. They'd quietly accept the slap on the wrist for their kid (even if they didn't agree with it), and go on with their lives.
"Hmmm, but back "in the day", packs of girl soccer players weren't smashing soccer balls into the faces of boys. "
Well, we played prison ball with heavy basketballs pumped up so hard they'd ping when you bounced them. It was against the rules to throw at the head, but kids threw head balls all the time and I got into a fight with a bully over it. It was pretty nasty stuff, loved every minute of it.
LOL. I am a troll because you don't understand what a hypothetical question is? Do you always lash out at things you are unable to comprehend?
I remember getting nailed in the nuts in hockey... and being told to get up and walk it off.
I remember having to "stand the wall" in suicide as each and every one of the other players took a shot at me (the penalty for touching the ball after missing the ball iirc)
I remember the horror of having been "picked off" in suicide.
I remember (sort-of) running headfirst into a brick wall while playing Birmingham Jail.
not to mention the various and sundry fights, fair and otherwise, in which I and all other healthy boys always got involved in.
but now?
effete.
the whole culture is going poofy on us.
I disagree....if it had been my kid charged...I'd take this all the way to the Supreme Court. I'd be sending messages to every media outlet in the country and screaming my head off....why?
Because this is plain and simple WRONG!!!!!
The School and District Attorney are at fault here for letting this get way out of hand. They have abused this child!!!
(and I am not talking about the kid with Braces)
no.
back in the day there would have been no slap to meekly endure.
back in the day, the prosecutor who attempted this lunacy would get some interesting advice at odd hours and perhaps suffer some property damage.
back in the day, the culture was not so damned effete.
"It looks like #2.. a pack of kids smashing a soccer ball on the head of the geek with braces."
If he was on the court he shouldn't be whining. No big surprise that a soccer ball would be hard...but they all chose to play.....and if he stayed in to get hit multiple times....well, that was his decision.
I don't think bats are used in wall-ball...just a hunch.
Troll Alert!!!!
Well...
a. Proof beyond the word of this girl that the game was "consensual"?
b. What if the baseball bat smash came during a consensual game of baseball? Is it okay then? Or what if a kid bulls over a catcher at home plate by smashing him in the jaw with his forearm.
There is a line that can be crossed from when a consensual activity becomes assault. Was that line crossed here? I don't know.
The media is presenting us with only one side the story. That, and that miss little perfect is an "honor's student" (elementary school honor's student??) raises all kinds of B.S. sirens.
What if they were playing 'hide the tactical nuke' and one kid had a 20 kT yielder and the others only had 10? Would that be fair, huh, huh, huh??
(sarc. off)
