That was Mohammed Al Baradei's (Nobel Peace laureate) plan all along.

What has never been explained to me is why Iran, which exports oil, must needs generate electricity with troublesome and expensive nuclear power?

Wouldn't electricity be a lot cheaper to generate with the natural resources they have?

If they burn a barrel of oil which they could have sold for $X on the open market, then it cost them that same $X to do so. It is called 'opportunity cost'.

Also, they have a pretty bad pollution problem in some areas. Burning oil to generate electricity will only add to the problem. If they could generate clean nuclear power then they could improve air quality.

It amazes me that there are people in the West who are stupid enough to take advice from a guy named Mohammad on how to deal with Iran's nuclear program.

Oil will run out some day.

Wouldn't electricity be a lot cheaper to generate with the natural resources they have?

It is more lucrative to export oil than to burn it.

The crisis over Iran's atomic agenda is deepening, but the world's nuclear watchdog chief has warned there may be no choice but to accept limited uranium enrichment by Tehran, diplomats say.

That's the best the UN can do. Now watch the US. The clock is ticking....

Perhaps they are concerned about global warming?
