Radio Shack is a dinosaur. All of their stuff you can easily buy at Best Buy or Circuit City for much cheaper.

They charge $30 for cell phone battery car chargers. Even so, Radio Shack was besieged with buyers right after Hurricane Wilma because nobody down here had electricity in their home for over a week. When I saw the crowd lined up outside Radio Shack for cell phone car chargers, that set set off a light bulb over my head so I made a beeline for a cell phone accessory wholesaler and bought several hundred car chargers. Then I sold all of them off in just a few days. Oh, and I only charged $5 each so I couldn't be accused of price gouging.

So I guess I wouldn't have much luck with "How you doin sweet cheeks?"

No… because that doesn’t sound nearly as condensending as it sounds like a come on and that’s OK. (LOL)

Hey I’m no femi-nazi.

A little flirting, especially from a young, buff good looking guy is always OK in my book. I don’t mind being treated as a sex-object, I just don’t like be treated like I’m stupid especially when I’m buying a car or computer parts.

RadioShack said Friday its fourth-quarter earnings fell 62 percent and disclosed plans to close 400 to 700 stores and two distribution centers as part of a campaign to fix its financial performance. Its shares tumbled 8 percent, after sinking at midday to a three-year low of $19.08

Have you ever thought about submitting your number to the no call list?

Then I would probably get slapped. :-}

Can't say I agree there. Best Buy and Circuit City are masters of the ripoff. If I need a plain A/V cable, the Rat Shack is the only place I can still get one short of mail order. I think Best Buy/CC are only selling Monster now. Plus, the Shack is the only place where if you don't want to buy a cell phone charger, you can buy all of the parts to build one!

And I bet those parts add up to way more than 5 bucks.

Did he lie when he gave his name and address to buy a battery?

isn't that like counterfeiting pennies?

I get it, and you're right. And, it makes Al Gore look even worse. If that's possible, that is.

I worked the Christmas rush at Radio Shack in the early eighties and was told to make the customer feel bad about not giving their address. If they refused, we were to write "customer declined" across the receipt. I had one customer that when I asked for his name and address, he said "No", then as I started to write "customer declined" he would say loudly, "I said NO" then I would say " yes sir but when a customer says no I have to write this so the office knows that I asked." Then he would say "NO No NO DAMMIT MY NAME IS NOE, N-O-E NOE! He got me on that at least twice before I started recognizing him when he came in.

Am I permitted to read this thread without giving you my zip code?

LOL! I refuse to go there because I can't even pay CASH without giving a zip code.

My husband bought a phone for me from RS recently. It didn't have an answering function, so I tried to exchange it. What a nightmare.

Au contraire, my friend. Although I have had my beefs with Rat Shack, sometimes they are the only ones that carry the stuff you need right now. For instance, building radios on a Saturday, just TRY to find that stupid little 100 Ohm 1/4 watt resistor at Circuit City, or Best Buy, or anywhere else. Just try it! Unless you have an on-line supplier anywhere (Ocean Electronics is pretty fast) you are screwed for at least 10-12 days.

Yes! I most certainly did and on the very first day it was made available and it greatly reduced the number of telemarketing calls I used to receive – sometimes five or six a day and always at dinner time. I encourage everyone to register if they haven’t already.

But understand that the “do not call list” does not prevent businesses that you already do business with from calling you to offer additional services. I have cable and internet service from Comcast and they are allowed to call me to sell me additional services and upgrades as are my credit card companies, etc. And if you volunteer your phone number to a merchant you are giving permission to that merchant to call you and even to give or sell that information to other merchants.

But my greater concern is that if you give out your phone number or address to a cashier in a public setting, there’s nothing to prevent some creep standing in line behind you from writing it down. I’m not paranoid but you can’t be too safe or too vigilant about your personal privacy and safety.

Caramelgal:
How about an eighty one year old former Texican and Marine. I don't have any pickup lines and have been married to my wonderful wife for 62 years, but still???? You never know when you might need a well seasoned old xxxxx. OH, well I will just keep reading FR and maybe someday something will come my way. It will probably be someone like DON MORGAN, and if you don't know who he is you must be a newbe. Can't we all just have fun?? I don't really know what possessed me to even reply to this post.

Good evening and the very best to you and yours.

I've shopped at RS and gave my phone number to them to make a purchase. Never have they called me.

I can tell you from working at Radio Shack that you will never make enough money there to stay for a long time. Unless you live with Mom and Dad and just want to earn MP3 players and batteries. You can make more money flipping burgers, and yet Radio Shack expects you to become an expert on many things and prefers that you are bilingual. I really enjoyed working there but hey, where's the money?

That’s not the point. If I want to buy a few dollars worth of batteries, it’s nobody’s business what my phone number is. Their refusal to complete the sale without me divulging what I consider to be personal information and unnecessary for them to know pi$$ed me off.

Well then don't shop there as is your right.

Personally, I like RS. Its closer to my home than any CC or BB and always have what I need for A/V stuff in stock and at very reasonable prices.

BTW, I'm listed.
