"What we are discussing is an Islamic country. An important distinction that the administration is trying to obfuscate."

Good point.

"As I've said before, why hold any Middle Eastern country to a different standard than the British? Take Iran, for example. We're dead seat against Iran having nukes. Why then are we not threatening to attack England unless they disarm? Could it be that there is a different standard? Could it be that the differences are obvious?"

EXCELLENT post. Next time President Bush warns Iran about no nukes, hopefully someone will ask him "Why the different standard for Iran? Why can't they have nukes like Israel? This is bigoted!!"

When he gives the predictable answer, someone can hopefully remind him that this "different standard" should also apply to homeland security.

Excuse me Mr. President, but since Sept 11th, a different standard became a necessity.

the United States was sending 'mixed signals' by going after a company from the Middle East when nothing was said when a British company was in charge... Lawmakers, he said, must 'step up and explain why a Middle Eastern company is held to a different standard.

The reason for the different standard is that the British have been on our side in Afghanistan and Iraq against Muslims who have killed 3,000 of our citizens and 2,300 of our soldiers. The British themselves have been bombed by the muslims.

United Arab Emirates is a Muslim country. If we are to take Muslims as practitioners of the Koran and the Hadiths, they are not to be trusted nor should they be working in the best interests of non- Muslims (Infidels). They should be working to convert, kill or make us second class citizens under sharia. Thats why we shouldn't bring their influence into our country. Especially afer 9-11. - tom

Mr. President,

I’d like to know why the United Arab Emirates was on the list of governments which agreed to accept and nurture Fawaz Damra, a known TERRORIST who was intent on harming the United States?

Ohio Imam Tied to Terrorists to Leave U.S.

dated January 5, 2006

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1552878/posts

Quote:

The agreement allows Fawaz Damra to resettle in Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Egypt or the Palestinian territories, said Greg Gagne, a spokesman for the Justice Department's Executive Office for Immigration Review.

Mr. President, is this NOT a list of enemies of our country? Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Egypt, or the Palestinian territories. I don't see listed the British? Wonder why the British didn't offer safe harbor to this TERRORIST. Could it be because the U.K. doesn't protect TERRORISTS?

Is this not a big difference between the British and the UAE? We, the American people, can hold these two governments to THIS standard.

One harbors TERRORISTS. One does not!

How can the U.S. even CONSIDER allowing the United Arab Emirates to manage and operator our ports -- when they HARBOR, ACCEPT, and NURTURE terrorists. This known TERRORIST Fawaz Damra, and plenty more like him, could very well have inroads into Dubai Ports World.

Mr. President, what happened to your strong statement: You are either WITH us or AGAINST us. Looks like the United Arab Emirates is AGAINST us.

We cannot treat our enemies as our friends and business partners.

You MUST reconsider. This is a very serious mistake. And too much is a stake.

That's what I was thinking. UAE might be crazy for wanting the ports, cause if something goes boom in America, they will be taken down...

History will not be kind to him if his gamble comes back to bite us--it will be the end of the Bush dynasty.

Today Bush has single handedly put an end to it.

Anyone been to Dubai lately? It is one of the cleanest and safest cities in the world. Very westernized and very welcoming. The UAE is rapidly becoming one of the world's leading trading powers. It is an anchor of stability in an incredibly unstable region. And for all that, we want to deny its very legitimate and proven shipping companies to operate ports already under foreign ownership in this country? Great idea. Lets squash the one country that has already become exactly what we want the Middle East to be.

Why do we hold them to a different standard?

Um...Because we're at WAR WITH THEM????!!!

I am sick to death of people trying to make the citizens of this country feel bad for having the good sense to not "like" the people we are at war with!

Sure!! If you love CAIR and hate Israel

To: STARWISE; Mo1; onyx

It turns out that an anti-Israeli foundation run by the crown prince of Dubai owns the very deed to CAIR's headquarters located almost in the shadow of the U.S. Capitol. The foundation has held telethons to support families of Palestinian suicide bombers.

I think Bush has realized a solemn truth: terrorists won't attack an America that ceased to be American.

Yeah, and if you can get filthy rich by selling off America piece-by-piece right out from under the American people, you could always say, in a fit of immense arrogance, that you did it for the good of all.

- The UAE was one of three countries in the world to recognize the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan.

- The UAE has been a key transfer point for illegal shipments of nuclear components to Iran, North Korea and Lybia.

- According to the FBI, money was transferred to the 9/11 hijackers through the UAE banking system.

- Two of the 9/11 hijackers were from the UAE (Fayez Banihammad and Marwan al-Shehhi)

- After 9/11, the Treasury Department reported that the UAE was not cooperating in efforts to track down Osama Bin Laden’s bank accounts.

"President Bush: "Explain why a Middle Eastern company is held to a different standard" "

Easy Mr. President. Ever since your invasion of Iraq you have conditioned America to believe that all Middle East countries are terrorists. First you have to unwind that and then a different standard can be considered.

Right now it appears that the 'war on terrorism' is trumped by the 'money needs of investors' in the continuing soap opera of the outsourcing of America.
