To explain in part her opposition to the UAE port deal, Barbara Boxer just declared on Scarborough Country:
"Two of the 9/11 hijackers were from the UAE."
Wha-t-t-t-t?
Did Barbara Boxer just play the guilt-by-association card? Did she propose the most blatant kind of ethnic profiling?
I swear it was only the fact that Scarborough and Boxer were in different studios that kept them from falling into each others arms, as Scarborough declared that the port deal "makes no sense at all" and is "a terrible, terrible idea."
Scarborough urged viewers to call the White House and their congressmen to voice their opposition.
Look, I don't like the sound of this arrangement. But hearing Boxer and Scarborough gush at each other almost makes me want to run out and support it.
In any case, Boxer's hypocrisy is breathtaking. For example, imagine that if President Bush had tried to justify warrantless surveillance of a UAE citizen on the basis that "two of the 9/11 hijackers were from the UAE." Can you imagine the wails of outrage that would have emanated from Boxer's direction?
Ethnic profiling is fine as long as it comes from the left. Sacarborough should be ashamed of hisself...and thanks for posting.
It's called "hip ignorance."
I support President Bush on this.
The Dems for some reason feel free to attack the UAE, probably because this country is actually perceived as friendly to the US, on an official basis, at least. Also, it doesn't look as if the UAE is going to issue a fatwa against them which could end in that ugly beheading thing, so attacking the UAE is pretty safe.
That Dick Cheney, imagine letting the UAE get our ports just so the MSM would forget the other stuff that happened in Texas at the Armstrong ranch
How are they going to craft blocking legislation--that everybody's running to get onboard--considering that all of America's major port cargo-transfer operations are foreign owned right now? Profiling Arabs? Profiling Muslims? This is going to be a lot more complicated than Congress thinks.
I wonder if AL Gore has made a statement about this yet! After his statement in Saudi Arabia, I wonder if he is against this!
Scarborough Country ping to Today show list.
Perhaps this was the best Rove-scheme ever... getting the Left to demand profiling!
It seems to me it's just a change in ownership.
I don't believe all the employees are going to be fired and replaced with islamofacists.
So now maybe they will explain their aversion to profiling?
lol!
The 'Rats fall into yet another devious Rovian trap!
I think both sides have overreacted on this. As soon as the word got out there was a political explosion. They should have got together and talked this over.
I'm having trouble figuring out if the Dems think we are at war or not. Very confusing.
Yeah? We have arrested terrorist in your state so just go away now.
(Denny Crane: "I Don't Want To Socialize With A Pinko Liberal Democrat Commie. Say What You Like About Republicans. We Stick To Our Convictions. Even When We Know We're Dead Wrong.")
Did they forget how many came from Saudia Arabia. was it sixteen? I quit watching Scarface too.
Vetoing government intervention in the free market is suddenly a bad thing?
Once it's pointed out that the FBI and the Italian anti-terror organization have determined Dubai and the UAE to have been involved with al Queada, (financing them through their banking system), and that they support the Taliban and Iran's proposition that Israel has no right to exist, and that the UAE was used as a base of operations for the 9/11 terrorists and provided them with money and fake passports, it really should not be so difficult to craft such legislation.
But in these strange days of globalism and multi-culturalism, and the mysterious blindness that has befallen so many Americans, I wouldn't be surprised to see the President nominate a Saudi Prince to head Homeland Security and have it be accepted by half of America if Bush said he can be trusted.
Marwan AL-SHEHHI believed to be the hijacker who flew United Airlines Flight 175 into the South Tower on September, 11, 2001
--
came from the United Arab Emirates, where his father was an imam. Interviewed in the UAE, Royal Highness Sheikh Abdulla bin Zayed said of al-Shehhi, "He was a normal individual until he went to Germany. It seems when he went to Germany, he met these radical fanatics who have a very different understanding of Islam than we do."
alsoFayez Rashid Ahmed Hassan al Qadi Banihammad
---
2001
Banihammad used the controversial program Visa Express to gain entry into the country together with Saeed al-Ghamdi. Upon later review of his application, it was noticed that he hadn't listed an occupation or reason for visit, and when asked where he would be living in the country, simply wrote No. However, he still received his Visa.
Before the pair arrived in Orlando, Florida on June 27, 2001, Banihammad had opened a bank account in the UAE to which $30,000 was deposited by unknown parties only two days before his arrival. He opened another account with SunTrust Banks in Orlando several days after his arrival, becoming one of nine hijackers to open an account with the bank.
The 9/11 Commission noted: He appears to have played a unique role among the muscle hijackers because of his work with one of the plot's financial facilitators, Mustafa al Hawsawi. On July 18, Banihammad gave Mustafa power-of-attorney over his Dubai bank account, and Mustafa reportedly mailed him a VISA and bank card.
And yet not too long after 9-11 one dare not detain a young muslim-looking male out of fear of profiling, and they searched little old ladies, instead (me).
Interesting info, thanks for providing. Of course that wouldn't have prevented Boxer from crying 'racial profiling' under different circumstances.
It presents a great opportunity for an Arab muslim terrorist/spy to infiltrate the system and learn about how the Coast Guard arranges and operates port security, how the containers are inspected, which one are likely to get scrutinized more than others, and even the contents of cargo leaving port with military hardware being shipped overseas; (what a target for "pirates" that would be).
You just know that al Queada are already contacting their connections in Dubai to develop plans for inserting just such a spy (or spies) into the operation and getting him a "job" in one of our ports. Do you not believe that one or more of these "friendly" muslims from the Dubai maritime conglomerate secretly harbors disdain for America and would sell us out for a price? If not you are a dupe, because it's already known by the FBI that they have financed al Queada in the past.
As a nation, we are even stupider than I once thought. If the countless islamic anti-West rebellions going on all over the planet isn't enough to wake Westerners up and smell the coffee, all I can say is I feel sorry for America's children, who will bear the brunt of our blindness, stupidity, laziness and assinine trust in those who would cut out our throats.
But do you think that folks will turn away from the Dems for being hypocritical, or will they think they came to their senses?
Given President Bush's weak position in regard to protecting our southern border, this is a bad issue for him to use his first veto on.
What it comes down to is a question about how much we can trust the UAE to vet its employees in positions of trust, and how well the U.S. can oversee their procedures. We don't know, because the whole deal was done in secret by a very small number of people, and we're still not getting information.
I think President Bush is making a mistake on this issue. If anything, we should be moving away from outsourcing control of our ports to corporations, who these days don't have loyalty to a country.
Oil = money. Money = power. Power = domination.
I was reading about the UAE too, and I discovered they purchased another U.S. maritime interest for 1.15 billion in 2004. President, Senators, Kings and Sheiks all appear powerful, but they all bow to money.
No problem, even if I pulled it from Wikipedia. ;-)
Steps have been taken , I am sure, to prevent any repeat performances by individuals from this neck of the woods.
Leave it to Boxer to shoot from her hip, I didn't know she even packed. ;-)
I know DiChiFi does.
Wow .. Scarborough's ratings must really be in the tank if he's falling into the arms of Bag Lady Boxer
I readily admit I don't like this ports deal .. I've made my feelings clear on this matter
But what I hate even more is a bleeping political set up that will endanger us even more
The first hint I got of this was yesterday when Chuck Schmucker had the nerve to say he TRUSTED Hallibuton .. which is a bold face lie
Tact on Gore's speech a few days again .. then Corzine saying he's going to file suit and Hellary's (Ms. Chinagate herself) ranting about foriegn investors
THIS SMELLS TO THE HIGH HEAVENS
IMO ... These bleeping morons are trying to stir up riots here in America
Was she just as upset about the Chinese taking over the West Coast ports?
Or did Barbara's husband make money on the ChiCom deals?
The only think Babs cares about is taking down this President and the Republican party ..
Democratic Logic
Judging all Palestinians by the ones who are suicide bombs=BAD
Judging all UAEers by one hijacker=GOOD
Yeah....they Muslims in America start rioting..or starting fires like in France...and they will point at Bush..
But, it is their hyperventilating over this that would cause it...although the MSM would never let them take the blame.
This whole deal has been blown out of sanity. As I learn more, I am seeing the light.
IF this is what that are trying to do .. it won't work
Bush has bent over backward to not profile
And now they are the ones screaming for profiling
I can't deal with it all .. I keep walking away to clear my head and I come back to read the news and my head explodes again reading stuff like Joe and Babs locking arms
It's hard to believe that our President Bush, who commanded invading two countries (regardless of what the rest of the world thought), would knowingly allow a situation that would jepordize our securties.
I'm sure he knows most Americans feel like...
Bush has bent over backward to not profile
And now they are the ones screaming for profiling
Hmmmmmmm..There is no way this could be a rope a dope could it? Something isn't right but this makes the Dems according to CAIR racists? Remember Clinton and Schmucky came out against this first. To say I'm very confused is an understatement.
You may have to change your tagline...
I am usually pretty optomistic about the END result of a dem smear on Bush....
But, there are so many Republicans jumping ship...that, unless this company withdraws the offer...I just see weeks and weeks of the dems mainly...but also Reps. preening for the cameras..
But, I would like them to answer the question...why now? why not in November, December, January???
'They' is a very general term.
Are you referring to the company who's making the purchase, the country U.A.E., or just muslims in general?
Their comments and responses will come back to bite them hard
Their comments and responses will come back to bite them hard
And that's what has me confused, why profile when they are so against it? Why guilt by association, look, they say Harry Reid is clean even though he took money from Abramoff, but to them it ISN'T guilt by association. This and Corzine have my head spinning.
Having said all that I have about the dems...
I don't think it will work if the "supporters" of this use the tack...that the dems believe in profiling...because it is just too "easy"...
However, if they persist in this...perhaps President Bush could use this to get them to back off on the NSA independent commission and such...
If they are THIS upset about this sale...because of their fear, then surely they couldn't complain that phone calls are tapped..
I do know that Bush CANNOT count on his public relations team to help him out...they never have.
add in that fact they knew since Novemeber
My head hurts trying to figure our exactly what they are up to
