Boxer: "A Couple of 9/11 Hijackers Came from UAE" [Profiling Double-Standard Alert]
Scarborough Country | governsleastgovernsbest

Posted on 02/21/2006 7:22:24 PM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

To explain in part her opposition to the UAE port deal, Barbara Boxer just declared on Scarborough Country:

"Two of the 9/11 hijackers were from the UAE."

Wha-t-t-t-t?

Did Barbara Boxer just play the guilt-by-association card? Did she propose the most blatant kind of ethnic profiling?

I swear it was only the fact that Scarborough and Boxer were in different studios that kept them from falling into each others arms, as Scarborough declared that the port deal "makes no sense at all" and is "a terrible, terrible idea."

Scarborough urged viewers to call the White House and their congressmen to voice their opposition.

Look, I don't like the sound of this arrangement. But hearing Boxer and Scarborough gush at each other almost makes me want to run out and support it.

In any case, Boxer's hypocrisy is breathtaking. For example, imagine that if President Bush had tried to justify warrantless surveillance of a UAE citizen on the basis that "two of the 9/11 hijackers were from the UAE." Can you imagine the wails of outrage that would have emanated from Boxer's direction?

Yeah, and IRA terrorists come from Ireland, so does that mean she wants to cancel the St. Patricks Day parade too?

Profiling Arabs? Profiling Muslims? This is going to be a lot more complicated than Congress thinks.

Yup and right now there's a whole lot of big-mouths in congress who are just starting to figure it out. McCain is a big mouth, but he's not a stupid big mouth. He's already figured it out. Hillary and Schumer are big mouths, but they're stupid and now they've stuck their feet into it.

IMO ... These bleeping morons are trying to stir up riots here in America

No, they're rewriting history, and they're all, by appearances on the media outlets, running for re-election. National security hasn't been one of the left's strongest selling points since 9/11.

The media is just helping them apply their masks so that more people will be fooled into voting for 'em.

Last time around they were running on the phony notion they loved the military while trying to obfuscate their stance on the GWOT. This time around, it appears they are going to run on this phony notion, they CARE and are CONCERNED about NATIONAL SECURITY.

They don't give a rip about national security. Not now, not ever.

The stories on this port sale are incredulous. Lacking facts and full of alarmist goobledygook.

And now they are the ones screaming for profiling

Right. After screaming at Bush NOT to profile. Can't you see a trend here? They've been at odds with the American people, they're re-inventing themselves.

I don't think this trend will last long after the elections are over. They'll go back to their hate-America first Bush-bashing festival.

I agree, the breadth of Dimocrat opposition to this proposal almost makes me want to support it.I was a foreign policy major in college and near as I can remember the UAE has always been an ally of the US. My first reaction was that they are in a better position to monitor these ports than the US or British. They aren't hamstrung my the ACLUnatics or our seditious partisan congress.

I also find it odd that our ports haven't already been breached. It seems like such an obvious point of entry. Maybe not as easy, or practical, as it seems. At any rate, near as I can recall UAE were our friends. It didn't raise the same alarm bells with me and with the Dims flipping out that almost affirms my initial reaction. If nothing else it's beautiful to see their racism and hypocrisy. Definately worth the price of admission.
