H.J. Heinz Co. said Tuesday it was selling its European seafood business to Lehman Brothers Merchant Banking for $506 million.
The transaction is subject to customary EU competition review and approval. Pending regulatory approval, Heinz expects to complete the transaction by the end of March 2006.
This major transaction successfully focuses our portfolio in Europe on three core categories: Ketchup and Sauces; Infant Nutrition; and Meals and Snacks, said a Heinz spokesman.
TOPICS: Business/Economy; Culture/Society; Foreign Affairs
KEYWORDS: elite; heinz

From the Lehman site:
"Henry Lehman, an immigrant from Germany,"
So the Europeans are going to trust their ketchup needs to an AMERICAN who immigrated from GERMANY?
Hellooooo! Do you people remember World War II? Started by...?
I can't believe Europe is going to let a German immigrant to America (which is worse?) get into their ketchup supply. Hmm, weren't there POISON GASSES manufactured in Germany?!??
I think the President is all wrong on this. The Democrats are going to make such hay. At least Jimmy Carter is against it...no, actually he's for it. I hope the EU nations get together and oppose this deal with a company with ties to a guy who lived in the nation of Nazism (!) less than two centuries ago. Come on, EU nations, I'm calling on you--England, Italy, Germany! Uh...
;P

So does this mean JFsKerry has already funded his campaign. It would be such a pitty if he spends all that wifey GREEN and then gets the floor wiped up with his sorry butt. NOT!
I know I can't take seeing his ugly sKerry kisser day after weary day. And the other prospect isn't any better. It's going to be a tedious time folks.

Pretty cool, huh? I found (and adopted) it earlier this year. It's easier than remembering to include sarcasm tags on all my posts.

When you do some reading what that junk is made of, eating polypropylene is healthier. Heinz has the most 'fillers' in it.

Started by...? Henry Lehman may have been German, but he was also Jewish, a rare condition for a Nazi. He also died before Hitler was born, another small detail.

Although others seemed to catch it.

Getting out of the EU or Europe while the getting is good ?.
Or getting out of Europe before the Mooslims take over and declare ( opps, they already did with the west and the USA ) have full scale war on the EU and the west ?

By the way, stay away from Boston Market (Heinz).
Sorry can't do that. I love that place. Boycotts (only in my opinion) don't work anyway. I have never witnessed a business going under because of a boycott.
To: nopardons
Yeah, but she and her brats get rich off the profits. I don't care whether or not she is running the place but I DO care if I'm helping in any way to fund sKerry's adventures.

stay away from Boston Market (Heinz). This is not an issue that I work to stay current on, but I thought Boston Market was bought by McDonald's.
