Journalists are brave, unless the subject is Islam

If only the Danish cartoonists had drawn a picture of Dick Cheney shooting ...

Well, we have to be careful here, don't we. The way things are today, one could get in trouble for describing a hypothetical, nonexistent drawing. The very mention of the sinful syllables "Danish cartoonists" is sufficient to set 16 cities in Nigeria aflame. So let's just put it like this: If a Danish cartoonist had drawn an image of Cheney unloading a blunderbuss at (THAT PARTICULAR PERSON. YOU KNOW. HIM.), the press might finally have a cartoon they could show. White House correspondents would put it on T-shirts and wear them on cable news shows.

Or would they? On one hand, it would keep Cheneygate alive for another week, buoying hopes that the regrettably non-fatal shooting accident will cast out the Evil One. For some reason the left has become convinced Cheney will leave soon, if they concentrate hard enough. It's the modern-day version of the hippies levitating the Pentagon. If Cheney leaves, they think, his replacement will be less evil, since no one is as evil as Cheney — for heaven's sake, they can't let the man in maternity wards, because the babies all start to sweat pitch and sulfur.

Media are very brave in badmouthing Serbs. How many journalists or other Westerners were beheaded by the Serbs? BTW, how many NATO soldiers were killed by the Serbian insurgents?

Dear Editor,

The editors of most of America’s major newspapers are cowards (with the Philadelphia Inquirer an amazing exception). These editors thought nothing of running pictures that put our troops in more danger (such as the New York Times putting Abu Grab pictures on its front page for over 4 weeks) or running fake stories that would incite Muslims worldwide (such as the Newsweek bogus story of Korans in the Toilet). Yet when it comes to putting their own sorry X’s (rhymes with “basses”) on the line, they all of a sudden become all so sensitive and understanding. Somehow, the First Amendment is not all that important if some Islamic nut may do something to you. Shame on all of them. Cowards. Thank God we have braver and better men and women that refuse to lie down and give up their freedoms so easily.

Regards,

2banana

If the VP is replaced, it might be somebody who could run in 2008 from the incubancy.

That's why I was somewhat relieved that clintoon was not removed. A few more years of clintoon would be better than any amount of an albore presidency.

Well put.

My local paper, the Minneapolis StarTribune (aka The Red Star), is very guilty of this.

(The Press) will return to their old brave role: Questioning Authority. Unless it's located in Mecca.

Yes, journalism has gone way down hill. What are journalist students taught these days?

Journalists are brave? Only a journalist would believe that. It's like George clooney talking about how "brave" he has to be to be a liberal in hollywood.

Journalists are only brave....when they think it will get them respect on the cocktail circuit or compliments from elitistist cliques.
