Clinton pleases NZ woman
New Zealand Press Association ^ | 25 February 2006

Twelve hours after arriving in New Zealand, former United States president Bill Clinton has already made one woman incredibly happy after he sauntered out of his hotel yesterday afternoon wearing her clothing label.

Peri Drysdale, the chief executive of Christchurch-based wool brand Untouched World, said she had "engineered" for one of her shirts to be waiting on Mr Clinton 's bed after his speech at the Global Business Forum at Auckland's Sky City yesterday morning.

Ms Drysdale, who is staying in the same hotel, said a person, who she wanted to remain anonymous, called her to say Mr Clinton had left the hotel for the afternoon wearing her black, fine merino half-zip shirt.

"This blessed, honey man has just walked out of the hotel wearing our shirt.

"He's just lucky I left the hotel about three minutes before he did otherwise I would have had my arms around him - whether he likes it or not," Ms Drysdale said.

She said this was the third time Mr Clinton had sported the label.

Firstly in 1999 , when delegates in Auckland for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) meeting were clothed in Untouched World shirts.

Ms Drysdale said she had specifically asked Mr Clinton the night before Apec to take his jacket off for a photograph the next day. "He was not only the most powerful man at Apec, but the best looking - and I can tell you because we had to measure them up...the best proportioned - he's even better now, bit drawn yesterday though, he's been unwell."

She said he then returned to New Zealand about 18 months later and shopped in their store.

Ms Drysdale said she had called her husband to tell him the news.

"It'll be useful for us particularly overseas - and to have it happen three times.

"He's still the most powerful man in the world and you can't do any better that."

Untouched World pitched its environmentally friendly products to Golden Globe film nominees in mid-January.

The pre-awards beauty retreat in Los Angeles is an annual opportunity for just 20 international luxury fashion and beauty product companies to access the high end of the United States retail market.

It was the only company from Australasia at the retreat.

Ms Drysdale, was named as North & South magazine's New Zealander of the year last year.

She has an MBE for services to manufacturing and export.

We knew he was prolific. Now I guess we know he's competent.

Not to mention that strange clothing showing up in Bill Clinton's hotel room is probably nothing new, either. The innocent explanation for it, however, is probably rare.

Somehow, I get the feeling had they met, there'd been so many stains on his garment, it'd have looked "tie-dyed".

How easy it is to Dowdify (selectively quote) this article:

"Bill Clinton has already made one woman incredibly happy after he sauntered out of his hotel yesterday afternoon wearing her clothing."

Well, there's something you don't see every day. Usually it's all about him.

Surely Bill should enjoy some sexual services in exchange for providing such great promotion for this company......

.... and someone should make a t-shirt (with that NZ company's label on it!!) for Hillary that says "My So-Called Husband Went All The Way to (in) New Zealand and All I Got Was This Lousy Shirt!"

And I thought something about a cigar after reading the title.
