RIO OF JANEIRO - works of El Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Claude Monet were flights Friday in a museum of Rio by a group of men armed which moreover attacked foreign tourists, according to the museum.
According to the service of press of the Museum of Chacara C Céu (firm of the Sky), located in the popular district of Santa Teresa, at least four armed men made irruption in the rooms of the museum and seized four works of great value and a book, while profiting to strip with the passage five tourists of their money, their jewels and of their passport.
The director of the museum, Vera de Alencar, specified that the robbers selected the most invaluable works of its collection: "dance" of Picasso, a book of the same artist entitled "Toros", "Navy" of the French Claude Monet, "Garden of Luxembourg" of its Matisse compatriot and "Back balcones" of the Catalan El Salvador Dali.
The robbers acted with much speed and violence, carrying blows with the guards and the visitors who were on their way, according to information's of the police force disseminated by local television.
Armed with a grenade that they threatened to launch, they have moreover constrained the guards to disconnect the internal circuit from cameras.
Stealing rare paintings is always easy. The problem is fencing them --- we're not exactly talking about obscure works here. BTW, his name wasn't "El Salvador" Dali.
