Playing for Keeps Salena Zito, Tribune Review
The unity that Republicans took for granted during the Reagan era is gone and it won't return until the party elects a politics-of-joy, limited-government conservative like Reagan.
How can the GOP resurrect a Reaganesque agenda with broad appeal? Stopping the mudslinging and standing for something would be a good start.
The Republican agenda should center on reform, starting with reduced federal spending and ending budget earmarks. Throw in lobbying reform -- the real deal -- for good measure. Focus on winning the war on terror and shoring up our borders.
All that takes courage, a collective soul -- and the ghost of Reagan.

It is a shame that the GOP seems to be forgeting what got them in the majority. Now they are too busy trying not to offend Democratic voters, and we have seen how well that has paid off....
I'm thinking along the same lines. Has Pence even presented an interest in running though? I'm not a fan of draft movements.
There will never be another Reagan Revolution without another Reagan. Not but one man in a century has that stature - and he was in the 20th Century. I will not see another in my lifetime.
It certainly won't be Dr. Frist or any of his fellow wimps on the current GOP scene.
Thank you Democrat Underground.
You still are in shambles and '06 will prove it.

Like what McCain & Feingold shoved down our throats which has only made Government Lobbying worse???
Salena nails it.
In politics, as in football, the "prevent defense" is successful at ...preventing success.
