Gad! I finally find out my long lost Dad is Victor Mature... And you ask "Dad?"
I just hope he mentioned me in his will!
How interesting for you! Victor Mature! Good looking guy! He made lots of films.

Here's a reprint of my post 42 at 'Brokeback Mountain' Leads Academy Awards 8 Nominations (The New York Slimes New EXTRA!) Way back in the early 1970s I was at one of those Hollywood parties and Jim Backus was there. He told the greatest stories about Victor Mature.
One was about when Backus and Mature were filming Androcles and the Lion in the early 50s. Backus said they were filming in the desert and the heat had them taking a long break from about 10AM until 4PM.
One morning about 10, Mature told Backus he had a load of TVs being delivered to a Store he owned. "Let's go check them out." Backus agreed and started to go change out of his Roman Centurion costume.
However, he saw Mature walking to his convertible with his costume still on. So, Backus put on his helmet and got into the car with Mature. They roared down a long stretch of desert road when the saw in the distance a little bar.
Mature said he wanted a drink, so he stopped at the dinky honky tonk. He got out and walked in, followed by Backus. The bartend was the only person in the bar and he looked up to see two fully uniformed Roman Centurions walk in and up to the bar.
Mature ordered a scotch neat, but the bartender was shocked deaf and dumb. He just looked at them in stunned silence.
"What's the matter?" asked Mature. "Don't you serve members of the armed services?"
I recall the entire evening being one long laugh after another as Backus told story after story of Victor Mature's wild antics. I wish I could remember them all!
Re: "Another of McGavin's early roles was that of Capt. Frederick Benteen in the ill-titled movie... The Great, Sioux Massacre. Benteen was in command of one of Custer's battalions at the Little Bighorn in 1876."
Yes, great cast with Joseph Cotten as Major Reno and Philip Carey as Custer...
The Great Sioux Massacre at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059244/

Yeah, we're almost out of beer!
Whoa!!!! Keep that under your hat! I hear the Slimes is working on a scoop that the Veep got Ted pregnant...
Cheepers, the resemblance is amazing. LOL.
BTW, a nice FR tribute to three great stars. Enjoyed it.

Bender? Can you think of anything else "ssssssss lllllllssss" could mean?
Maybe she's practicing her phonetic Ss...
BTW what is with this 'Louise' fetish?
Maybe 'Louise' is the real name of Bambi's Mom...
remember the sound Hannibal Lecter did with his tongue...kind of lisping... .
come on, you're creative. YOu try to lisp like he did and try to type it out.
My first memory of Don Knotts was the nervous guy being interviewed on the mid-50s Original "Tonight Show" with Steve Allen...
How's your ferndock?
Smock! Smock!
Steve Allen! OMG, you're going back in time.
So sorry, that was a misprint. "sssss" should have been spelled "llslipslislipslipslip..."
I learned this when Leela...
was telling me about one of her blind dates...
Now... That was a date!
Yet, I am still stumped on (I'm Louise) meaning...
Darren McGavin bump!
I'm Louise is my tagline when my partner in crime is onboard...which she is not tonight...but when she is, her tagline is "I'm Thelma." We had great fun with these taglines at the last singles thread over the weekend...My partner in crime is single.
I'm primed and ready!
And my boys are itching, too!
uh, what's itching?
Oh.. I see. Hey, let me get my Thelma costume on...
Gad! I love wearing these!
My Thelma outfit is better!
Gad, peacebaby! See what you started?
my dear sweet bender, both Thelma and I look better than that.
Work on it, OK?
Before we drive off that cliff.
The itch to rub out all those little boys and girls who've been bad!
the itch ... dumb me.
I'll put my creativity back on the drawer here.
I thought I looked kinda cute...
I did, too... You little dickens, you!
peacebaby's right, #2!
In that Thelma getup, you are uglier than Helen Thomas on a bad hair day! And... That is UGLY!
Even I will agree with that...
the dirty old man from "Laugh-In" just kills me.
The Fickle Finger of Fate Award.
And tonight's finger goes to Louise! Every cop in six states after our tails...
And now we get the finger. Great! Just Great!
My sincere thanks to you, my bender2. I shall show up in a bikini with messages painted, ala Goldie.
You like me, you really like me..
(I've always wanted to say that)

Hey, kiddo! Wake up! How's the hangover?
"You like me, you really like me.."
Well, I sure like that outfit better... I'll drink to it!
Especially that tattoo of me on her tummy!
that tattoe of you is in my belly button, dear.
Sorry, peacebaby (aka Louise) but that "You like me, you really like me!" line is mine...
Oh my, did I get caught plegerizing (sp)?
You're so wicked, bender2.
That must be one hell of a belly button!
It is, it is!
very small print, ok? in a circle. I've got an inny not an outy.
You'd have to put on your glasses - and maybe a magnify9ing glass.
No problem... I'm plegerizing all the time!
Eh... isn't that supposed to be plagiarizing?
Never mind, Bender. #2 is just another lowdown, no count, frigging know-it-all! That's why his tattoo is on Helen Thomas' belly.
Gad! I think I'm about to hurl...
Great tribute thanks! I'll miss Karl Kolchak!
