NEW YORK -- A radio talk show host swung his arms from side to side on the witness stand Monday as he relived his 1992 shooting in the back of a taxi during a kidnapping prosecutors blame on John A. "Junior" Gotti.

The eyes of most jurors at Gotti's racketeering trial seemed fixed on the witness, Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa, as he recounted how a routine cab ride to work changed abruptly in June 1992 when a masked gunman popped up from the front passenger seat and aimed a handgun at him.

"Take this," Sliwa recalled the man saying before he cursed and squeezed the trigger.

I really admire Cutis. He has courage and determination to see the prosecution of these low lifes though to the end.

Let's also not forget his inspirational work in starting the Guardian Angels, at a time when crime in New York was so rampant and the police only patrolled from their cars.

I wake up every morning to Curtis and Kuby. Great radio show! And Curtis is certainly not afraid to use his platform to go after Gotti Jr. He's a gutsy guy.

Kenneth McCabe deserves an honorable mention also.

Mr. McCabe was beaten at least once and threatened many times, but his straightforward manner earned a grudging respect even from mobsters, some of whom requested that he be the one to arrest them.

Curtis is certainly an uncommon hero. He's a regular joe, that a lot of regular New Yorkers can relate to. I listen to him in the AM, but it's hard to stomach his partner, the hypocrite Kuby, the anti Capitalist capitalist.

I don't mind Kuby at all. He says some stuff I don't agree with, but he's a likeable guy, and its funny listening to them go at it. I'd much prefer their kind of interaction than the shoutfests you get on cable tv news.

Kuby has gotten more tolerable over the years. Funny how making real money has changed Kuby's commie attitude towards the evils of Capitalism. Hypocrisy? Or just proving the old adage that maturity and responsibility brings one around to the conservative point of view.
