A student panel discussion on Islamic extremism that included the "unveiling" of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, including one of him wearing a bomb-laden turban, repeatedly descended into name-calling chaos Tuesday night.
The panel, which included one Muslim speaker, was repeatedly interrupted by hecklers from the audience who challenged assertions by panelist Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson that Islam was an "evil religion" and that all Muslims hate America. Outside, hundreds of Muslims and their supporters noisily protested the event amid a heavy prolice presence.
At one point, University of California, Irvine, police removed two men, one of them a Muslim, from the audience after they nearly came to blows.
The 424-seat campus auditorium where the panel discussion took place was nearly full. Outside, several hundred members of the Muslim Student Union and their supporters staged a protest and teach-in to counter the event, which they said was the equivalent of hate speech.
During the panel discussion, a moderator with The United American Committee displayed six cartoons: three depicting Muhammad and three anti-Semitic cartoons he said had appeared in Middle Eastern newspapers.
Thousands of Muslims worldwide have protested, sometimes violently, since the Muslim cartoons were published in a Danish newspaper in September and then in other European newspapers. The drawings are offensive to Muslims because Islamic tradition frowns on any depiction of Muhammad.

I guess it's hatred to ask CAIR and its followers to issue a fatwa against Bin Laden and to support the War on Terror. Of course, it didn't help that the President had CAIR to the White House. CAIR has contributed financially to terrorists in the past. I haven't heard this organization apologize for its mistake.

These are most 'moderate' muslims that islam can produce and they show up to protest free speech and call it "hate speech". They must have been primed by Bush supporters.
So how can I make an objective evaluation of the cartoons displayed (both Isramic and anti-Semitic) if they don't publish them?
Right. Those murderous pre-WWII Jews, with their suicide-bombings, jet-crashings, be-headings, neighborhood-burnings, gang-rapings, riotous mayhem...

i wish they would get all upset over the kid in France that was murdered by the radicals, i wish they would get worked up over people having there darn heads chopped off, i wish they would get upset over 3,000 people who died on sept 11 (but they were passing out candy and dancing in the streets) frankly i am sick of it and why is everyone so chicken to stand up against this. It's a freakin cartoon and I have seen many nasty ones of our president, Condi and others let's see they get worked up over a cartoon, they get worked up over Tom and Jerry a cartoon, are we not going to be allowed to be Americans pretty soon because they get all worked up and SHAME ON THE MEDIA WHO GET'S ALL WORKED UP about there First Amendment Rights but are chicken when it comes to this group I dont see christians riot when they disgrace the Blessed Mother or Jesus Frankly it is making me ill

not the Sfgate.com probably wont print the cartoon but i bet ya that if President Bush sneezed the wrong way they would print that Just like the San Jose Merc they had all over the front for days about the Cartoon and the outrage and the rioting but the Jewish kid in France that got 2nd page print yes it did get a full page but it should have been on the front page that yes even France is not going to take this laying down
