Hrm... wonder if he's adopted the local 'migrant worker' look. Couldn't tell them apart....

Adnan Shukrijumah, for example, could be a future facilitator of terrorist attacks for al Qaeda. He speaks English well.
Aafia Siddiqui is an al Qaeda operative and facilitator, she attended colleges in the Boston area, and is believed to have left Boston in January of 2003.

Entirely plausible, IMO, that they're seen together.

None of the local papers in their area would cover it in any depth, nor was there any apparent interest by our federal officials.
Suhprize suhprize suhprize. Kern County is a very odd place. The people are really neat, but can be odd ducks, but they are one thing - extremely observant. If you had to drive through a 45 mile canyon with 20' cliffs going up on one side and down the other - every day too and from work in Bakersfield - you would be too (DON'T EVER DRIVE KERN CANYON AT NIGHT FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!!)
But, the way LEOs out there turn a blind eye to the illegal problems, it doesn't surprise me at all. Nor that any of the local dimwit rags wouldn't run it either. Not like the LA Times goes all the way out the 99 to get stories. :\

And while it may well be that these folks misidentified someone, it is totally impossible that they were actually right?
And unless *someone* talks to the 'Persons of Interest', we will never know. And I think that is the point of the article, is that no one is being responsive. Sure, it could be a false ID, but wouldn't you rather that than Six Flags getting nuked? (and I think that's the point of this going public..)

Exactly, and that is what is so frustrating!
The purpose of putting out these BOLO mug shots and large rewards is to get people to be vigilant. And in many cases, we can all look at a mug shot of someone and say, "gee, I know a guy who looks sort of like that!" But that is no excuse not to be vigilant, and this guy is known to be extremely dangerous.
Like I said, I really just don't understand our government anymore. I'm very worried that the way things are going the Republicans are in serious danger of being swept out of power in November.

FBI may want to observe these guys, hoping to see what they are planning. The fact that the couple who reported the siting didn't get their 15 minutes of glory by being personally contacted does not mean govt agents aren't on top of it. I was thinking the same thing. Yes, a call back would have been courteous, but it's not necessary. If they reported place, date, and time, then spotted him again and reported his plate #, it sounds like the FBI or whoever would have plenty of information to narrow down his locale. Especially if, like another poster said, this area is very small.

There was a retired Army SF guy, named Jonathan K. Idema, turned bounty hunter that was hunting Bin Laden with the help of his bounty hunting team in Afghanistan.
He found OBL at a confirmed location and reported to the FBI immediately. The FBI checked it out FIVE DAYS LATER and confirmed that, yes, OBL was there and was gone.
Not long after that he and his team were indicted by the local Aghani judicial system for supposedly torturing some jihadis, found guilty, and sent to prison there.
To: Minutemen
He got away while the authorities were conducting their mandatory 90 day review to make sure his rights weren't going to be violated, lest the Democrats cry foul.

Like after the Murrah building bombing, the FBI put out an APB for 3 middle eastern men seen leaving the place shortly before the bombing. After a few days the FBI didn't exist to them. And John Doe #2 didn't exist anymore even though he looks like a dead ringer for Jose Padilla (a jihadi in jail for wanting to nuke the US).

We will *so* not be better off if that happens. :\

Please re-read the article.
The article does indeed state "former Attorney General John Ashcroft".
The BOLO alert (Be-on-the-lookout) report that was issued jointly by FBI Director Robert Mueller and former Attorney General John Ashcroft at a national press conference March 21, 2004.

I know what you are talking about. I used to camp on the Kern River above Lake Isabella.
"Mohammed" would definitely stand out like a sore thumb in the local cafe's.
Lake Isabella is not exactly off the main Interstate. You have to go way out of your way to be there.
