New York’s French Consul General Francois Delattre attempted to reassure American Jewish leaders Tuesday that France was committed to eradicating the “black shadow of anti-Semitism,” in the wake of the shocking murder of a young French Jew who was abducted for ransom.

“You can trust my government, you can trust my authorities, you can trust my country” to aggressively combat anti-Semitism, Delattre told Jewish communal professionals and lay leaders, who met in New York to show solidarity with their French counterparts.

Despite such assurances, the kidnapping and murder of 23-year-old Ilan Halimi has jolted France’s already uneasy Jewish community — still reeling from the wave of anti-Semitic attacks that coincided with the second intifada — and reignited the debate over whether or not France is a safe place for its 600,000 Jews.

Halimi, a cell phone salesman, had very modest means but his kidnappers assumed he was wealthy because he was Jewish, according to French police.

“Whenever there is an anti-Semitic act, we ask the same questions: Are we secure in France? Is the government protecting us? Are the police protecting us?” Benjamin Abtan, president of France’s powerful Jewish student union, UEJF, told The Jewish Week by phone from Paris.

When were jewish people ever safe in France?

Never! My father served in France in WWII. He waited until I experienced the joy of childbirth to tell me some of the things he saw. He wasn't a hateful person, but boy did he hate the French. On Sunday afternoons, PBS would show either World at War, or Victory at Sea. When we watched footage shot in France, my dad's jaw would start twitching. Watching these programs was my father's way of educating me on the horrors of genocide. We're Irish Catholic, btw.

The French Jews should thumb their noses at Chirac, and emigrate. Nobody would bother them where I live.

The French were so dedicated, that when the Germans asked for the adults, the French insisted that they take the children as well. From what I understand, the Germans were appalled. That's pretty bad when the Germans got upset. IIRC, the Germans I am referring to were regular army, not SS.

Of course Jews are safe in France! The press told us:

Yes, the French turned over children from a safe monestary where they were being protected. The Germans had not asked for those children, the French volunteered them.

WOW! A Revelation???? Islam is on the verge of taking over Europe and there they sit like they did in the 1930s. Right now, I can't have sympathy toward ignorance. This has been taking place in their faces for years but yet they support the Liberals.

Conservative Jews have been warning the Jews in the United States and around the world the Socialist are not their friends for many years now. The Liberals/Socialist have been in bed with the Muslims for decades. What do they not get? (sheeze)

Of course you're Jewish : ) I mentioned Irish Catholicism because of where my grandparents came from. As an American, I realize that England is America's ally. As a person descended from those who suffered atrocities at the hands of the British, I loathe that country. I had a grandmother, and great aunts who unfortunately(?) told me oral history of how the British destroyed the churches, criminalized the Gaelic language, and of course Catholicism. This started hundreds of years ago, but we've got a long memory.

The French are in a category all in their own. They're supposed to be Catholic, but they spit on the Bible.

I have posted on here many times that french Jews need to emigrate. This would have to be a push by all Jews in Israel and the USA. The USA could easily take 600K Jews thru immigration, since I dont know any Jews who dont work or are generally not productive, and that includes the vast amt that are liberal. So here is what I propose, we can take the conservative real Jews and the liberal ones can go anywhere else they can, but not here. If they stay in france, they have a death wish, its only a matter of time and then its on their own heads.

Jews living in France can hardly look forward to a safe future. As more and more Muslims overwhelm France by flocking into the country, the less safe Jews will be. With uncontrolled immigration, plus the tremendously high birth rate of Third World peoples, combined with a declining birth rate in Europe, the future does not look bright for civilization.

No great civilization that has been overwhelmed by a massive demographic shift of primitives have ever recovered its former level of civilization. Assimilation is always downward.

Muslims hate Jews and are taught from childhood to eliminate all Jews from the face of the Earth.

For the same reason Jews will never be safe in Israel surrounded as they are by tens of millions of Muslims who believe the same thing.

We must remember that Muslims are a people driven by a primitive fundamentalist religion not susceptible to civilized reason.
