The Multi-National Force (MNF) on Friday announced it is investigating reports on Abu Mosab Al-Zarqawi's arrest nearby Fallujah.
An MNF officer did not confirm or deny the arrest, noting that the US forces are still investigating the reports.
Meanwhile, an MNF major said the force, based upon intelligence reports, executed Monday a number of arrest operations 45 kilometers northeast of Fallujah to capture key Al-Qaeda officials, Al-Zarqawi's assistants, and others involved in providing logistic support for foreign fighters and suicide attackers in Fallujah and Ramadi.
The major added that 61 people were arrested in the operation, which was announced before, among them were major Al-Qaeda leaders in Iraq, while quantities of weapons and ammunitions were seized and destroyed in the operation.
Meanwhile, sources in the Iraqi Army said that Al-Zarqawi could be among those arrested in the operation on Monday.

KUNA isn't reporting we caught him they are just reporting that we are investiagting if we caught him. He changes his appearence all the time, which is why the Iraqis caught and released him before.

On the contrary some of them, Kuna included, are far far more accurate than the western news agencies covering Iraq.

I really don't like the knee jerk reaction that many have to anything from the Middle East. There are many in the Middle East that I would be proud to fight beside and fight for. And, there are many news sources I would take any day over the AP or CNN.

Well, you folks have a point. There aren't very many reliable news sources anywhere.
Actually, KUNA isn't making a very bold claim - just that the American forces are checking to see if Zarqawi was captured. That could be true any day of the week. But putting the article out there might tend to get people's hopes up. It's kind of like teasing a dog by holding a ball just out of reach.
Here's hoping the dog gets the ball this time.

One great thing about these reports is that they will make Zarqawi issue another public statement.
He has to say *something* in public, doesn't matter what, so that his distributed terror cells know that he's still at large rather than captured.
And everytime he makes a public statement, there is some level of trail (back to him) that could get him caught.

Gee, if this is true then we won't be getting Zarqawi's blog anymore, and that would be disappointing. Iowahawk kindly lets the Zarkman use his site for Z's blog:
Zarkman Live Zarqawi is a pretty funny guy if you don't mind a lot of bad language. He wrote quite a few interesting pieces on Iowahawk's site. Warning: do not drink coffee while reading this.

Ya beat jmc1969 on this one. Of course if it turns out to be true, we may not find out for some time anyway. Then again it could look good for the Iraqi element. Sort of stuff a dried camel tit in Jaffari and Sadrs's faces. Force the upcoming battles of wills as who they want in, us or the Turks. Ah.
