Infant Had Been Run Over Several Times
(CBS) NEW YORK The dead body of a newborn baby that had been crushed by a car was discovered lying on a Long Island street Saturday. Police had few clues where the infant came from, or whether it was dead or alive when it was abandoned.
A man walking his dog found the badly mangled body at 7:30 a.m. on a residential street near a golf course and a high school in Hempstead, about 20 miles east of Manhattan.
"The first time I saw it, I thought it was a dead raccoon, but then I saw the little feet and everything, and I saw it was a little baby," said Nolbin Valle, a shaken Long Island resident who lives near where the body was found. "I don't know man; I think only an animal could do that."
The naked body had been laying in the road for some time, probably more than a day, and may have been struck by more than one vehicle, said Detective Lt. Dennis Farrell of the Nassau County police.
Investigators could not immediately determine the baby's race or gender. The man who made the gruesome discovery initially mistook the remains for a small animal, police said.
The remains were sent to the Nassau County medical examiner.
Police were also canvassing hospitals, hoping to find some record of a woman who had recently given birth. Investigators were also considering the possibility that the baby was a stillbirth, Farrell said.

How could so many people run over that body and not notice, especially the first few? What a horror!! And what monster could leave a baby's body in the road like that; and not be noticed, for cryin' out loud. LI is a busy place.
Prayers for the poor man who found the body. He's going to need some real healing up from this one.

Reminds me of the stories I've heard about D.C. beltway commuters screaming at some bleeding accident victim because their yuppie ass was going to be late to work.

We often overlook folks involved in these type of incidents. This poor man will most likely think of this every day for the rest of his life. No one could ever forget such a traumatic event. He may need help coping.

Fairly easily. If the baby was dumped at night, especially if it had some sort of dark covering (cloth, or, as doens't seem terribly unlikely, garbage bag), then it'd be easy to both hit and not recognize. And then one square hit and it'll be mangled beyond ready recognition. Remember, the guy who actually noticed it was a baby at first thought it was a racoon... and he was *walking*. He'd have it in sight for maybe a minute or two. A driver... maybe just a second or two.
I wouldn't lay blame at drivers here. But that baby got into the street somehow... and I'd bet a nickel it didn't *crawl* there.

One guess. Here's mine: dark night, drive along, open window, toss out. There have been any number of stories of babies found dumped in back-alley garbage bins... here's just a particularly lazy example, couldn't even wait long enough to find a dumpster.

Abortion for all as I understand Killing is something women do really well.
I'm not the type to be shocked it the Earth spat up the Devil. This however wakes me up like a baseball bat to the skull. Absolutely unreal.

Now just how do you know so much about this? Maybe a man killed the baby. Some guy knocks up a girl and she has the baby. They are driving in his car and the two are arguing about taking care of the baby. The baby starts crying. The man tells her to shut the #$%^ing kid up. The baby keeps crying. The guy loses it and grabs the kid and tosses it out the window. The woman screams and the man pulls over and beats her to death. He drives off and dumps her body down the road. Could be this or any number of other scenarios.
Happens all time, except they call it a medical procedure...
I never thought of the wrapping it part. I guess that comes from the fact that I find it inconceivable for anyone to do such a thing. I've been on LI once, which was more than enough for me, and traffic there is unreal. There wouldn't be much chance to avoid anything in the road if you wanted to without causing a bad accident so I'm not citicizing anyone for running over it. A newborn is pretty samll but I still think it would have been pretty noticable to the first few who hit it and that's why I'm surprised taht no one would have reported it. I'm just blown away by this. It's hard to believe that it's real.

He will. When my dad died of a massive heart attack, I was the one who gave him CPR. That happened to me for WEEKS. I just couldn't go to sleep unless I was so exhausted that I fell asleep instantly. Otherwise, everytime I stopped being busy, the whole incident replayed in my head like an endless video, over and over. It took a long time to get over it.

His loving mother put him there because he was an inconvenience to her. What is the real difference between leaving a newly born baby in the road and having a late term abortion ... where the "doctor"/murderer will dispose of the body for you?!Rhetorical ... requires no response.
This is just one more manifestation of the pure evil that is coating the world like slime. This is not unlike a suicide bombing by terrorists, using a helpless, innocent infant as the weapon.
The first victim is of course, the infant who is murdered. The second victim is the man who found the body crushed nearly beyond recognition. As already said, he will have nightmares about that for the rest of his life. Then, the next victims are all of the drivers who transversed that street and read of this tragedy, and wonder "did I hit that poor infant?" They too, will suffer as their consciences go to work, admonishing them that if they had paid more attention, they MIGHT (no guarantee, but might) have seen that infant before it had been struck.
And then there are all the people who will read this story on a global basis thanks to all of our technology, the majority of those people will feel pain and anguish at the idea of such an inhuman act, they will wish they had not read the story, and at some level, we too, will remember this for the rest of our lives because our memories are too easily imprinted when confronted with such traumatic images and descriptions.
And at the lower rungs of society's food chain, there will be some people, hopefully only a few, that will be completely indifferent, or will even feel a twinge of giddiness, making absurd, kneejerk comments like "this is what happens when abortion becomes illegal", and other foolishness.
And then, from deep in the pit, comes a roar of exaltation from Satan himself, who seeks to kill and destroy everything that is good, decent and holy.
He'll chalk up another "victory" for his side.
I'm with you. Sometimes I just can't handle the horrendous things people do. I feel like I'm living on a planet of mindless robots with no conscious thought of what they're doing or who they're hurting. It literally makes me so sick!

You are right about the horror playing like a video when going to sleep. A couple years ago we almost lost our daughter, and I was haunted with images of her suffering whenever I started to doze.
It happens all the time with unwanted litters of kittens ...One of the best cats I ever had was picked up by a Good Samaritan when he saw a sack tossed out a car window ... and took the kittens to a nearby vet. We adopted our little fellow because we could give him the special care he needed until his crushed leg healed. He always limped but lived a happy life with us for 19 years. ... what a pity the poor little baby was not rescued in a similar fashion.
Sigh.
I'd prefer to find and prosecute whoever did this, rather than blame satan...
... and, even a few who may think What a good idea ... and give us a few more copycat incidents like this.Sigh.
