The problem in Europe, similar to many other Western countries, is not necessarily the current asylum seekers from Muslim countries. The recent unrests were largely sparked by those who are born and bred in Europe but are taught one set of values by their parents/family and yet face a completely different set of values and culture in the larger society.

Verdonk's policies appear to be taking the Netherlands from one extreme to another.
