A galaxy of Hollywood stars, including Paul Newman, Reese Witherspoon, and Nancy Sinatra, have donated thousands of dollars to Senator Hillary Clinton's political campaign. Clinton, who is fundraising for the Democratic party, intends to use the money, which now stands at an impressive $17.1 million, for a presidential bid.
Newman and his wife Joanne Woodward both donated $2,000, while Witherspoon gave $1,000 alongside Edie Falco and Danny DeVito, according to the New York Post. Chat-show host Jerry Springer gave the most to the cause - $4,200 - while Sinatra gave a modest $200.
This just sucks, I like Reese Witherspoon. Add another star to my commie list. Pity.
Well if the intellectual giants are lining up behind her I might want to rethink things...
So Sad. Reese Witherspoon a Democrat. I did like her.
Oh well. Reese just lost me as a fan. Too bad.
Movie stars supporting a dim?
So? Why do I care who they support politically? If they have talent and people enjoy watching their movies, what does it matter?
This is news?
Here we go again.
$1000 to Hillary... not bad for a permit to work in Hollyweird.
Reese's daddy is GOP and she is a fine Southern lady.
I guess you have to be a dem to be on the 'a' list. Good thing I'm not a movie buff.
Reese.. why go there? Your better than those others.
She has a brilliant Hollywood PR team working around the clock to give her a new celebrity superstar image. She has a cunning political machine working to make her into a "Mrs. Smith goes to Washington" sweetheart that just wants what ever is best for the folks back home. She has Katie Couric, Oprah, Wolfe Blitzer, Tim Russert and Larry King and more just dying to give her all the free air time she wants. She has People Magazine clamoring to put her on the cover and the New York Times all but dedicating the Old Gay Lady to her service.
Remember; it is the full time occupation of the entire democrat congressional body, 90% of political pundits and most of the media to assault and smear any republican who appears to gain steam other than their darling John McCain who wouldnt know straight talk if he was standing at the pearly gates.
Understand, too that democrats in the beltway are working around the clock to insulate Hillary and Bills staff that she directed from any investigative fall out that may result from ABLE DANGER, OIL for FOOD, the BARRETT REPORT or foreign campaign contributions. If Hillarys name starts to surface, those commissions or inquiries will be squelched or go behind closed doors in a New York minute.
If they realize their purpose, by the time she declares any republican that is nominated will seem like an 'also ran' bumpkin that doesn't deserve to stand on the same stage with her. No matter how politically brilliant Rudy Gulianni or George Allen may be, they will not be able to compete with new Hillarys combination image of a political Ghandi with a celebrity status rivaling anyone in Hollywood, the perceived charisma of JFK and the wisdom of Margaret Thatcher rolled into one. The nation is going to be assaulted and the racial and social divides are going to be fueled by democrats in ways they never have before. We have never seen vitriolic anger or historical distortion in the way we are about to witness beginning in the spring of 07. While most republicans will choose to hide rather than to answer the attacks a quasi middle of the road liberal republican like Rudy who is anti-2nd amendment or a volatile egotist like John McCain will likely turn millions of folks off to the election.
Id guess Hillary will never leave home without the race card hidden up her sleeve and a subtle campaign ploy will be to portray her as a lovable and honest victim of her husbands dalliances. America's memory is short very short - and easily manipulated, especially by Hollywood and the pretty faces on the 6 oclock news. In two more years she will be able to hold a rally at ground zero and no one will even think of the World Trade Center unless she chooses to remind them.

Who'da thunk it?
Too bad Reese... even though you're a hot, little POA... you're now scum in my book!
I sort of agree with you. I think you gotta pay to play in Hollywood. I hope that is Reese's deal anyway.
Me neither, really. But it would be nice to find reason to respect Hollywood again. Looks like it will be awhile yet.
She has enough clout, why support those commies?
My wife isn't going to like hearing this about Reese. Her comment to 'Andrew Hennings' in 'Sweet Home Alabama' about him being a Democrat had me hopeful that she was not a dimmy democrat. Damn!
I'll send her an email. LOL
Dunno. Go along to get along?
I'm a chick, and I like her. I know this is silly, but legally blonde was a fun movie.
"So? Why do I care who they support politically? If they have talent and people enjoy watching their movies, what does it matter?"
Because when you support them, you support your/our enemies with your hard earned money.
One of the reasons I will never buy any of that "Newman's Own" crap.
She's young (30) maybe she'll change and who the heck knows how she votes?
I won't turn on her unless she starts mouthing off.
I wonder what Danny DeVito's "twin," Arnold thinks about this?
Well in that case... I mean who doesn't look to what Danny DeVito says before casting their vote?
I wouldn't worry about her anyway.
I don't watch her movies, but I do like to watch her.
Her political affiliations won't change that at all.
If she is pandering. It shouldn't matter if she's a republican in hollywood, she's a box office hit. Pity, I really liked her.
Good question! I don't see/hear entertainers because of their political opinions. That's not what I'm there for.
Are you formerly MikeinIraq?
yes I am :)
Had to change the name :)
Oh darn! Greasy Spoon supports Clinton. Will have to tell my wife.
See, the lines she said in the movie? That's called "acting". It's what "actors" do. :)
Wardaddy said her Daddy is GOP. I bet she is too.
One donation for a gala does not a democrat make.
a $1000 donation is pocket change to these people. I'm not reading too much into it.
Because it's one more thing the dems can say, 'see, XYZ actor is a lib, and so should you.' You never see, 'see XYZ actor is a republican'. They're shunned off to the netherlands, unless they've hid their political affiliation until they were too big. Reese, is too big and she's just blown it for me.
Right.
It's not exactly news that most in Hollywood support the politicos who have the same values.
Remember when it used to be a given that NO politician in their right mind would want to be seen as have the same morals and standards as Hollywood celebrities?
I din't think there could be two droolers like you on the site. ROFL!
Could it be that Witherspoon just wants the scripts to keep coming? I really believe that these people know what a blackball list is in Hollywood and they certainly don't want to be on it.
If you like Reese, "Election" is a great movie.
I seem to recall when Tom Hanks said in an interview that he regretted donating to Bill Clinton's campaign, only to retract his statement a few days later.
Yeah, you don't, but they make sure you know their affiliation. Should it matter that they spread it about? Isn't there a McCain feingold thing, maybe actors should just shut up and quit giving free publicity.
I only ever hear about their affiliations.... here.
Because you are lining their pockets with the money they send to Hillary!!
So, she gets her name plastered in the stories as giving to the rats? Why not give to the gop, be a trend setter, if she truely is a republican. It's not like she's not going to draw people to the movies.
If that's the standard you can't see just about any movie, read most books or listen to most music.
If she came out and gave $1,000 to the gop, you'd be singing a different tune.
